Power for LCD panel (headrest 4")

I'm no EE and I don't want to fry it.

I have a 4" itty bitty LCD and I want to hook power up to it to play with it's 12v input (it just has two little loose wires) How would I go about hooking power up to it? could I splice it onto a PC power supply somehow?

OK, I found an old multi-output AC adapter with a 12v setting, I need to strip the wires and hook them up. The cord is marked with a white strip on one side. Isn't there a rule about how to mark pos. neg? if so what is it...
