Power Failure!!

Last night the power went out for the entire block. When I try to turn on the computer this morning, it was dead. Can someone help me out and tell me what I might have to do?? :frown:

A few suggestions that have worked for me in the past:

Pull the power cord out of the back of the computer, wait about 30 seconds to a minute, plug it back in, and try again.
Reset the BIOS...can be done by removing the CMOS battery for about 10 seconds, then putting it back in
OR
can be done using shorting the CMOS reset jumper on your motherboard.
You can also try simply flipping the little switch on the back of the power supply to the off position, then back to on.

Hope one or more of these is helpful. 🙂

If the computer is dead, as in no power, check your circuit breaker.

If the cb is ok, plug a lamp into the outlet and verify the outlet is good.

If the outlet is good, check the fuse in your power supply.

The monitor that's on the same outlet still turns on. I took the computer to another outlet and it still wouldn't turn on. So I'm thinking maybe the power failure fried the computer or something..

Do you have a surge protector on it??? If yes, check it. If not, go out right now and buy an APC Surge Arrest or UPS then fix the computer and stop worrying.
