well the koran is easier to interpret literally. jesus wrote nothing down. the bible is 2nd hand accounts and is seen as such. muhammed supposedly wrote the word of god. quite literal and unchanged, he was a direct conduit. its much harder to really interpret the literal word of god.

Uhhhh, no. Whoever told you the Quran was easy to read is stupid. Its complex and is a great example of arabic literature, but don't think you can just sit down and easily comprehend it.

That is like saying that Dickens is an easy read if all you read are magazines or something

The prophets were normal men.

Are you telling me that is an improper interpretation? Prophet Muhammed, Moses, Jesus, et all were all human and one should not revere them because they carry the word of God~they aren't God themselves...To try to raise their status beyond anything human would be idolterous...

Islam is no more valid or correct than Christianity or Judiasm is, so dont turn this into a 'my religion is better than yours' argument.

Sorry, hatim. I think you're a troll, and I absolutely HATE what you stand for. I detest Islam in general, and I consider the people who commit suicide bombings and other such acts of terrorism to NOT be human beings, nor entitled to the priviledges and courtesies of such.

I couldnt agree more.

you said some pretty f-ed things about america

Now there are 5-6 major sects of Islam. The main two are sunni and shiite. In Saudi Arablia, a newer Islamic system has been in place. They say that "god and Quran" is the only thing they should revere. The prophets were normal men. Osama bin Laden and terrorists are often from this sect. very wrongly interpretting "jihad"

Errr, three major sects you must mean.

1. Sunnites: Account for nearly 90% of all Muslims; believe in holymen elected by the accepted representatives of their society; believe in an unbroken succession of holymen following Muhammed that were all originated from the four caliphs (Abu Bakr, Omar, Othman, and Ali)
2. Shi?ites: (meaning "partisans" i.e. "militant") Account for no more than 10% of all Muslims; believe in a messiah named 'Madhi' who will return to establish a kingdom on Earth; Aga Khan is their 'Imam' (holyman endowed with power to perform miracles) and they believe an Iman is always present someplace in the world; typical among the merchant classes of the Arab countries.
3. Wahhabi: founded in 700's by Mohammed Ibn Abd al-Wahhab; strict interpretation of the Koran/Qur?an; purists.

The most conflicting aspect of Islam is how some originator of the religion still held such high respect for a black lump of meteor. I mean, c'mon, this lump of rock was worshipped as an idol. When Muhammed conquered Mecca he threw out every other last trace of idolatry save this one lump, which in my opinion means he compromised his own foundations of Islam to pacify the locals. What was so special about this damn rock?

While many of you have the right to object to Islam and whatever interpretations you make of it, I'll remind you that Islam is here to stay.

Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are the three pillars of the world's collective religion. They have been pitted against each other in the past in various ways, sometimes in major conflict, yet they still exist and thrive today. This will not change.

What about Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, and Athiesm? I think those four are also right up there in numbers these days.
