Powder is more effective at getting clothes clean, however, it usually does not dissolve properly and leaves a little white powder in my pockets.

So Liquid for me.

I use the powdered detergent from Sears (comes in huge buckets). Works great; doesn't leave ANY scent, and it occasionally goes on sale for $10.

Combined with bleach (for whites), it's the best detergent I've ever used.

Consumer Reports tests them all. Powdered Tide with Bleach is consistantly at or near the top at getting stains out, preventing stain transfer, and keeping whites/colors looking correct. Plus it is one of the cheapest.

Liquids usually don't do as well as powders in the tests and often liquids cost a lot more. <- general statement, not true in all cases, but usually true.

Just make certain that you add the powder, turn on the water, and then when it is all dissolved add the clothes.

in other words...any one who goes to a laundry mat should not use powder😉

Depends on the washer for me. In college and my apartment coin-op washers, where the water doesn't run until the lid closes, I use powder. For other washers where the water runs before the clothes are added I use liquid.

Isn't that backwards?

Hard water?

Try adding some Borax.

We use Arm & Hammer ... the non-scented one.. powder.

But the results of the poll are making me think I should try liquids. :Q
