Where are these reports about rising food prices?

I got a soda out of the machine at work and boom . . . the machine wanted $1.50 for one soda. Every time Bernanke and the feds print more money everything costs more. Enough of the easing and lets start cutting the budget for real.

You are now poorer thanks to O'Bamma.

if you mix those Taco Bell hot sauce packets with Ramen noodles, that's exactly what poverty tastes like.

food prices are going up. this year's crops have sucked. Add in the cost of fuel (transportation cost) the price of all goods are going up.

as sandeagle said the price of fruit has gone insane.

but going by the price in a soda machine is kinda silly. $1.50 for a 20 oz soda when you can get a 2 liter for a buck at a real store? yeah insane.

My wife and I buy cans of refried beans to make homemade burritos with.

In the past year, a can of refried beans has gone up 20%, 6X the typical rate of inflation.

A year ago the can cost 98 cents. Now it cost $1.18.

It's not just food...

I bought another heat lamp for my dog kennel this year since the last one wasn't quite enough (still got a bit chilly at -30F outside.) They are just the electrical cord and light socket and a metal cover, 2 years ago when I built the kennel, the heat lamp cost $10.99 (the price sticker is still on it). The exact same heat lamp this year cost me $13.99...

That is a 22% increase in 2 years. Thats some high inflation.

I hope the OP meant as 1 bottle of 20 oz and not the 12 oz can.

Around here, the 20 oz bottle is $1.25 and the 12 oz can is $0.65 at the vending machines.

I know food is up for sure. It used to be $1 per dozen of large eggs, now it is $1.68. One gallon of store brand, not brand name, orange juice was $3, now it is almost $4 ($3.89).

And it is going higher, not just in the US but worldwide = http://finance.yahoo.com/news/first-person-food-prices-going-worldwide-180600815--finance.html

Welfare programs (not including medicare and SS) are running about a trillion a year and growing. Be interesting to see how long that can keep up and Obama hasn't added to medicaid yet.

Some of the price hikes are due to the unusual spring we had. That effected a lot of crops this year.

You are free to find a country with lower prices and not Obama's fault.

Bye bye

Yall are buying veggies/fruits in the wrong place. We have various ethnic (asian markets) in my area and their prices have grew little in the last few years:

25c lemons (4 for $1)
20c limes (5 for $1)
5.99/lb live lobster
1.99-3.99/lb live blue crabs
~4/lb for headless shrimp with shells (not the tiger kind)
2.99/lb whole squid
4.99/lb salmon steaks
99c - 1.29/lb peppers (green/red)
99c - 2.50/lb red seedless grapes
~60c/lb yellow onions
99c/lb green beans
2.99 for a bag of clementines

Beef has gone up, but i can go to costco and get their ground beef for 2.85/lb

Hope you're buying those fruits and veggies at whole foods because you can get them at asian markets or costco for half the price.

Not just whole foods, i see some of their prices at the local supermarket chain groceries now (safeway, vons, kroger, etc). I mean $1 for 1 orange? Seriously..... Asian markets have the best value for produce

The bike I bought in April of 2009 now is $2000 more MSRP today than it was then and they haven't changed it aside from color choices.

That my friends is inflation.

You guys have it good. I can't remember the last time I could buy one of a piece of fruit or vegetable for less than $1. Except for mushrooms and beans.
