POTUS Obama Halts Bush Rules and Regs

It's immensely satisfying to see someone finally putting a stop to the deciderer and his bad decisions.

POTUS Obama Halts Bush Rules and Regs
January 20, 2009 7:05 PM

The new paint in the White House likely hasn?t even dried yet, but newly-minted President Barack Obama?s team is already on the job.

When government workers return to their desks tomorrow after today's holiday, they will be met with some new instructions. This afternoon, White House Chief of Staff and Assistant to the president, Rahm Emanuel issued a memorandum ordering all U.S. government agencies to stop implementing any pending rules and regulations issued by the Bush administration until the Obama administration has an opportunity to review and sign off on them.

Per the memorandum, any proposed or final regulation cannot be published until it has been approved by an agency head appointed by President Obama. The memorandum also advises extending for 60 days the date of regulations in the Federal Register that have not yet been implemented.

You can read the memo HERE.

A big F-U to Bush from Rahm Emanuel if I ever saw one.

Bush also issued the same type of freeze when he took office. I don't know if Presidents prior to that did the same but my guess is that they did.

Lazy bastards got a 4 day weekend.

You go work for the government and enjoy all those huge perks, then. Didn't think so.

On the block for the remaining Bush regulations: excellent.

Since it is based off a EO from 93, I'm guess Bill was the first one to do it.

When you do not like how your predecessor did things, you pull back as quickly as possible to reshape/change direction.

Same old, same old.

Sad how every little thing is being painted as change - when it is not even close to change. It is exactly what has been done for the past 20 years.

Good start on the change thing.

By the way, change is not undoing everything that the guy did before you. It would be actually proposing hard ideas to do it differently. Until I see ideas, Obama and his staff are officially full of shit.

he does have ideas, he said he's going to change education and health care for the better by the time he leaves office. If that's not a specific idea, I don't know what is.

He is on his honeymoon though, let's give him some more time before we start flinging out judgments

I am sorry, but I see nothing specific at all in that statement.

Me saying that I might wear a shirt by the end of the day is different than me saying I am going to wear a blue, button-up oxford.

I think this is the problem. Some people cannot see the difference between a hope and dream and an actual plan. Plans have steps and specific actions to reach a goal. As far as I can tell, Obama is good at offering hope, but as of yet has not offered a single plan to do anything.

That's more "change" than continuing what Bush had in place would have been... 😕

He has already taken the first step to closing Guantanamo. His administration has immediately halted all precedings in Guantanamo Bay.

actually your probably one of these idiots who is looking at the clock and saying -- well hell Obama`s been in office for 12 hrs and I am no better off than when Bush was in office....sad....

A new administration issues a policy to wait on the previous administrations policies? Oh wow this is really unbelievable news I tell you!

yea.. its standard business during an exchange of power. as stated before Bush did the same damn thing. I think it's just a common procedure, probably wasn't even Obama's idea.

Actually, no I am not. But thank you for elevating the level of debate to something I would expect in a third grade classroom.

I am willing to give Obama more time than any liberal gave Bush. Bush was called a theif and criminal on day one - no one on the left even bothered to give him a chance. I clearly understand that politically nothing gets done immediately, especially with the mental midgits we have sitting in congress (on both sides). But, I also expect the press to not trumpet every little thing Obama does as a major breakthrough.

So far he has passwed no laws. Just given out edicts. More like a king than a president at this point.

Uhhh, you know that Congress passes the laws, right? Right?!

Also, the first executive orders are in. Did you miss them? Check it.
