My friend who went w/ me got screwed.. There were ~10-30 people who either had problems with the checkout, or didn't have credit cards, tried to pay cash..

None got through.
Also alot of smart people order BOTH bundles and got them. 🙁
I'm trying to decide whether to go to another seminar, the next closest is in Canada on a school day :|

I have the server, and willing to answer questions

An Idiot ebays the server

Sure, I guess. I bet for every server, there's 20 gamer bundles ebayed.

Does anyone have questions about the server bundle?

I noticed the banks of memory like this:

CPU 0, Black memory socket
CPU 0, Black memory socket
CPU 0, Blue memory socket
CPU 0, Blue memory socket

CPU 1, Black memory socket
CPU 1, Black memory socket
CPU 1, Blue memory socket
CPU 1, Blue memory socket

Should I get 4 ECC modules?

i ordered my server bundle, will end up giving away server 2003. can't wait until july 19 to pick up my new rig. duallies, here i come.

with my luck I didnt expect anything and sure enough... I didnt win 😀

Here is a breakdown.

Long line to get into the main hall, they'll check your name off and give you a bag of stuff from microsoft and amd .

It contains brochures, a pen, and a XL Grey microsoft T-shirt.

You enter the main hall. they have about 5 companies on the back end. They were Gigabyte, Tyan, ATi, Asus, Microsoft and Asi(oem vendor i think..).

you sit for 2 hours of presentation.. (I fell asleep 😀)

Dinner time and also this is when you pick up your pre-order. Food was ok i guess... again long line. lasts about 1 hour.

More talking and few clips of how Amd helped sinciy and starwars 3... pretty good i guess.

The talks were pretty interesting as AMD explains that all x2 WILL be LOCKED. Microsoft tries to push their multimedia version of windows... Oh , their live performance comparison of normal dual opertons and dual x2's were interesting. They used some rendering benchmark.

The Q&A session was pretty interesting. Microsoft's responds on Longhorn was that it will DEFINATLY be released in 16 months.. but it will not be perfect/complete. They are already planning on service pack 2~3months after its release..

Now the give away time... they were...

Microsoft gave away 1 mp3 player.. from a distance it looked like a sandisk brand.
Ati gave away All in wonder 600?
17" LCD monitor from Asi
hmm I forget what Asus gave away..

2 Ferrari caps
4 Ferrari T-shirts
8 Ferrari Polo-shirts
1 Hawaiian Amd Shirt
4 Operton chips
1 Microsoft server ( or was it developer?) he pointed out that it was retail version and you can sell it for profit 😉

but they did give a mini usb hub and a retractable headphones and an AMD hat...

so.. Everyone got 1 ms t-shirt, 1 mini usb hub, 1 amd hat, 1 retractable headphones...

Meh. it was ok.. but I wont be attending their next show 😉

MustangSVT do they check your background about you are a real IT person or not or works for a computer company? And also do they check your ID and stuff when you pick up your bundles? Thanks

They dont do a background check..

when I got there, they just ask ur name and check you off from the list and hand you ur bag.

I believe they do check your ID when picking up your bundle.

The guy was somewhat impolite, boasting he wrote the rules.. And that no exceptions would be made.. No credit card authorization, no deal, No ID or credit card, no deal.

I feel most sorry for those who had the preorder server crash on them, or don't have a credit card. (It rejected my debit/one time use #s)

Arrived at 9:00, picked up bundles, watched the giveaways handed out :

2 Ferrari caps
4 Ferrari T-shirts
8 Ferrari Polo-shirts
1 Hawaiian Amd Shirt
1 Microsoft server retail
4 Operton chips

Left at 9:30 w/ a free hat, "retractable" headphones, and portable usb hub (all attending receive these "gifts")

As previously confirmed, YOU MUST PREORDER!!!!!! DO NOT EXPECT TO PURCHASE AT THE EVENT, AS IT WILL NOT HAPPEN!!!!!

The specs I posted from the email recieved from AMD were correct check my post a few pages back for details.
Dont sweat the dress code as it's EXTREMELY INFORMAL.
Would have loved to have gotten there earlier but time was restricted. I traveled from Iowa (luckily had business in Peoria) and wasnt able to break free until 6:00 to head over to chi. Staying the entire time is definately not necessary.

Thanks for the heads up on this deal, greatly appriciated and hopefullly I can reciprocate soon.

Thanks to AMD / Microsoft / Asus for putting on the event!

Why, oh why did I just upgrade my gaming box? And I have the money for the dual package, but I have to resist... must save money... for next... semester's books...

/Still driving to Dallas for the free stuff and fun

As others have said, don't get the server for gaming, as it has only Rage XL, and no AGP slots.
