Potential Hot Deal on AMD CPU/Mobo/XP x64 Combo

To anyone attending the Irvine show:

Please let us know if they give any updates on the server bundle. Are they still trying to get more server bundles in stock? If so, can we order one later if they're not in stock at time of our local show?

Still deciding on attending the Sunyvale show this Friday. If there's a way to get the server bundle before the show or after, then I'll be there.

Thanks.

Just call them and give them your company's state tax indentification code and explain your relationship with AMD, providing you're a system builder, and I'm SURE they'll go out of their way to get you a server bundle.

Yeah, when Dell has a "free second processor" deal, you can get a complete computer for cheaper than this deal. There was an $800 dual Xeon server not too long ago.

According to AMD Reps passing out the Bundles to the ppl who ordered them online, there won't be any more Server Bundles to Pre-Order.

yeargh.....

so here is what I am still debating....
new system....
the bundle $250, new vid card $200, ram $100, differnt mobo $140.

sell my current 9800pro for $90, sell the bundle mobo for $90

total cost $690-$180 (for selling the 9800 pro/mobo)=$510 (+tax...$42)
TOTAL RANGE= $552
i am leaning towards it....

spam away

I've checked the techtour website and can't find any helpful info, so, does anyone know any contact info for anyone specifically related to the tour? I had an emergency and wasn't able to make it to the Irvine event. I'm registering for the Burbank one in the hopes that they will accept my pre-order for the server bundle there (they've already charged me, so perhaps they will be kind...)

wait a minute, they've upgraded the Mobo on the server bundle? Even for those of us who have already ordered but not had their show come to town yet?

if so, badass.

I'm not overly hyped about the on-server bundle, it's good but not great. I know I won't be going to the NJ one if they do not offer a way to get the server bundle.

Yeah, it's ONLY worth it if you are going to use the copy of XP64. Otherwise, you can get the same thing for $25-30 more shipped to you right now. The copy of XP64 is what makes the deal.

The server bundle is just sick, which is why I ordered it the second I got the e-mail. Still, if you wait for a deal on a dual proc server from Dell, you can get close to the same thing for the same price, sans the OS of course, if you're just going to be putting your old copy of XP Home on it or something anyway.

FYI, I attended the Atlanta show with two friends. Two of us got the newer SB HSF, while the third guy got the earlier HSF. Looks like it's a mixed bag.

It'll eventually get to the point where most (if not all) will be R2.0, because ASUS stopped making 1.0's. Bostonians have a month 😉.

THe type of fan doesn't necessarily correspond to any 1.0/2.0 revision. My board (from Irvine show) says "rev 2.0" on it but it has the older fan type.

For those who are saying that the desktop bundle is not that hot of a deal, let's look at what you would pay otherwise. Here's the lowest prices I could find:

ASUS A8N-E $120
A64 3200+ $190

That's $310. So at $250, you are already saving $60 or about 20%. Then consider that you are getting a copy of Windows XP 64bit. I'm not sure what that's worth, but I just consider it a bonus.

The only problem I see with this deal is the ASUS A8N-E motherboard. It's strange that this motherboard is no longer even listed on Newegg. I see that the A8N-SLI is quickly coming down in price and will probably come down to the price point that the A8N-E used to sell at. Is ASUS phasing out the A8N-E or something?

I got both bundles at the irvine show. I was expecting to see a bunch of distributors but instead I only found D&H. BTW, I'm the only guy carrying the cardboard box around so sorry if I bumped into you with the pointy edges. Lots of people and mostly students working at retail stores (bestbuy fry's). They seems to give out alot of stuffs at the end including bunch of motherboards. But somehow they presenters didn't shuffle the cards so no one around my area wins anything.
The Opteron cpus were c0 stepping and the board did upgraded to k8se.

Anyone know is the usb hub made by IO gear?
