Video:

I have an Alienware aw2521hf 240hz Freesync/G-sync compatible monitor and am noticing a glitch which I think is related to Freesync. I was able to capture it while playing an older game, Final Fantasy XI (2004 DX8), although it happens in newer games as well, just less frequently. I have a 1050 ti (461.92), 8700k, and 32gb of ram using Windows 10 20H2.

I think it's a Freesync issue because I never noticed it on my older 60hz monitor, and it hasn't happened on the aw2521hf with Freesync disabled.

Has anyone else experience this, either with Freesync or G-sync?

Looks like a Freesync issues running G-sync compatible mode. Update to the latest drivers and see if that fixes the problem. If not, get a 20oz hammer and go to town on that monitor. That is not an artifact but the monitor refresh out of sync for a few frames.

I did try updating the drivers and may have noticed it happen at least once more but wasn't sure. Would this problem be eliminated with an AMD card?

I think I am the only one here responding because you are worried or complaining over nothing. If it bothers you enough, get an AMD card. The 1050Ti is a pretty pathetic card performance wise in 2021. It's equal to the AMD 7950 circa 2012.

Well to me it's quite distracting to have it bug out like that so I don't see how it's nothing, especially considering how much the display costs. I was looking into getting an AMD card but didn't know if the problem was with the monitor, Nvidia or something else entirely. Unfortunately, considering even an RX 580 costs upwards of 500 dollars now, I'm stuck with the 1050 ti for now.

It could be the card itself, but hard to know for sure, and as mentioned, good GPUs are hard to get now. I do know that I had a 1080 Ti that for some reason would occasionally flicker at desktop on my Freesync/Gsync monitor, but I never had the issue on AMD cards or on my new 3090. It may have just been the older Geforce drivers, IDK.
