And just the other day you were ridiculing people with "government is bad," "government is bad."

Moonie is one of the assholes. What did you expect?

Interesting that women have such a big gap from men. I guess women prefer bars where men can buy them drinks?

What's stupid are the Republican/Conservative numbers. How can those idiots even pretend to be for small government when they want government to control what you do to yourself? Morons. At least 70% of them are, anyway.

If pot helps someone who has a LEGITIMATE medical issue, I say let them have it. Other than that, why the hell do you need to smoke that crap? Sure, you can say that about many things but really what is the appeal of pot?

For all of the people who are against it, I would like to know a few things.

a)Do you drink alcohol ?
b)Do you smoke cigarettes?
c)Do you actually have any in depth knowledge that leads to you opposing MJ legalization? or did somebody just tell you what to think about it?

Also, next time you're watching tv and a beer commercial comes on the tv... Just pretend it's a commercial for marijuana. The only real life substitution you'd have to make would be to take away the tens of thousands of alcohol related deaths annually, and then you'd be taking a step in the right direction.

I guess we'll find out, I am fine with it being an $100 infraction like the recent law made it.
Don't smoke myself, but it pisses me off when chamber of commerce wants to get into people's private lives and tell them what to do in their free time.
One thing to keep in mind is people with cell phones are screening pollster calls. I have stopped answering "Private Number" calls, because they've been too many pollsters and fundraisers calling.

Not to mention being in favor of individual liberties, states rights, opposed to wasteful spending, being tough on crime (drug war = rich cartels), etc.

It comes down to the Achilles heel of conservatism...moralism.

PS smoking isn't the only way to consume Marijuana. THC can be extracted with fats, butter or oil, and used to make edibles. They even have soda

I've been sober some 15 years now, and I cannot see any logical reason for pot to STILL be illegal. It's less harmful than alcohol, has actual medicinal benefits. It would free the cops up from these silly busts.
We're old enough as a nation, and hopefully mature enough to realize the criminalization of marijuana was over zealous, and legalizing it could reap a benefit of income, from farms to taxes.
It's just silly to not legalize it.

It's another cash crop for us. I don't get it either.

Two words: big pharma.

They have far too much weight in this decision -- from state legislature all the way up to the big cheese in DC.

all of their social/"moral" politics are about wanting to control what you do to yourself. about exercising governmental power to force you to a "better choice."

this is nothing new with their agenda. illegal drug use is merely one of them.

yet big pharma has plenty to gain if this becomes nationwide and they can start research and manufacturing into CBD-based medications.

The sad thing is that out of the small amount of research that trickles out, due to the class 1 classification, it seems mroe and more that the various compounds in cannabis are simply wonderful. It's frankly stupid not to pursue this kind of stuff.

The benefits of legalization go way beyond potential tax revenue, reduction in crime and prison populations.

Hahaha, the polls say it's going down in flames like I thought. It makes all the sense in the world but we just can't have people having fun. No recreational nutten. Go to work and suffer. Hehe, same bunch of assholes that don't want gays to marry. Jealousy and envy.

I would guess more opposition comes from "big booze". MJ would cut into sales big time, I believe. Not to mention the bars, restaurants and clubs that make high profits off of booze.

People who are for continuing the new hundred buck fine are, I beleive, missing the point. Keeping it illegal still costs California big bucks. Legalizing will not only save Cali the money, but Cali will have a huge new source of revenue to pull their asses out of their financial mess.

Personally, I am surprised that there are no short term metabolytes in cannabis that can be used to determine length of time between last use. I wonder if its due to lack of research?

and because pot is illegal, so is growing hemp. a lot of products can be made out of hemp. paper, clothes, oil from the seeds just to name a few. but because the powers that be are afraid pot will be grown in hemp fields you can't grow it. and anyone who would try to grow pot in a hemp field is not going to get what they expect.

Funny how a lot of you are whining about "big" this and "big" that influencing the vote. Is it that hard to understand that a large portion of the population is not made up of stoners and that they simply don't care one way or the other so they go with status quo?

The brain dead are defined by the fact that they don't see their interests. They don't care because they don't have the brains to see their interests.

You mean like laws that say you can't drink and fly a passemger plain?

There will always be government. It's what kind that is the issue.

Drug laws are a mixed bag. I don't want kids to have easy access cocaine because it's so hard to break addiction and the stuff isn't too good for you, but I don't see such problems with grass. But Grass, swept up with drug enforcement via paranoia, in my opinion, has now become an economic issue. The police and the prison industry are justifying their existence and funding by locking up more and more people. I like rational government but we're getting a police state because of greed for money. Not a good idea to give greedy money grubbing swine too much power, I don't think.
