Posts need approval?

I just joined these forums today, and I noticed something I thought was odd. My first few posts went fine, but after I clicked Post Reply I got a message saying my post needed to be approved by a moderator before it could be seen?

I haven't experienced this before on any of the other forums I post in, and I would be grateful for any help - was this just a one-off?

Thanks.

Howdy fellow Kiwi. Probably has something to do with your recent join date and low post count. We've had problems with spammers lately so the admins have probably implemented a new anti-spammer system. Just bear with it for a while, I'm sure it will clear up soon.

It's our new anti-spam system. For members with few posts, if they seem spammy they're flagged and have to be manually approved.

I think your anti-spam thingie is broken... or the decision algorithim is broken.

The first 3 posts in Free Stuff is all spam. and it's a newbie account. and it's just links.

Here's an idea.
If post = just a link... FLAG FOR SPAM

So, how does a new user then get approved? I've got Iceshot PMing me asking...

We go through the pending post/thread queue several times a day and either approve or delete all the posts.

are there any rules on that? Cause there are some users that it wouldn't be a bad thing if you went through and deleted all their posts...

The only posts we don't approve are spam posts. Anything else gets handled through traditional moderation channels.

Seems my username is "spammy"... I'm trying to post something in the General Hardware forum, and it won't work. I suppose the post is in some sort of queue right now (the only thing is that I tried posting it two days ago and it still hasn't been approved).

Edit: Oops, seems it got approved without me knowing. Just found out because I looked at my post count and it says 2 instead of 1.

I am having this issue also. I tried to make a thread over a day ago and to my knowledge it has not yet appeared. I just tried to make a normal reply to another thread and it was also flagged.

Any chance I can get unflagged since I'm not a spammer? Kind of defeats the purpose of posting on a forum when your threads and replies don't show up for days.
