I'm sitting in a board room in Provo, Utah... Sipping some free coffee and about to go get some breakfast in the next room. Should I voice anything to the executives today about SuSE or OES or Netware?

Considering most of them are stock holders, I don't think they'll accept that statement... They hear it too often, but truly are trying to shift into the Linux niche.

Tell them that Novell is moving in the right direction. That their move to Linux has turned them from the Bad Guys (C) to the Good Guys (TM). :p

Tell them that their software is easily bypassed by disgruntled high-school teens.

Word.

I worked on sites that had Netware 3 servers with uptimes measured in years if they were on a UPS. A couple of the sites actually forgot where the server was and I had to find it by opening a few closets.

Solid as a rock.

Yeah.....but you have to admit that they were all supporting a small number of users. With NDS, turned eDirectory....we can support MILLIONS and MILLIONS of objects in a single tree.

Anyhow, I'm here to get the roadmaps for the next 6-8 months to learn which direction Novell is going with OES and their Linux...as well as learn what other Novell shops are doing with their implementations.

<- Provo native. I miss it. :(
It was about 65 degrees this morning and clear. Yesterday was pretty hot, but there was a nice breeze from the North that really cooled it down and made it nice. Low humidity of course. ;)

Millions is no sweat to EDirectory. Novell has setup demonstrations, several times since 2000, with eDirectory running on a single server with 1.5 billion objects in the database!

I'd like to see where they are going with Bordermanager. It seems like other Novell Products are outselling BM all the time, I rarely ever see BM firewalls in the field with the same frequency as other Novell products like GW or Zen. And what is the real deal with NetWare. Going away or keeping it around?

Anywhere betweeen 25-200 users per site.

We were upgrading to 5.1 and had to hit all the desktops to upgrade the clients and enable IP.

You can upgrade the clients and enable ip via login scripts....without visiting the desktop.

We were also doing service pack installs on the desktops, switching over printers to IP only, and pulling out token ring equipment (type one *shudder*), and various other tasks so we just did it in person as well while at the site.

The client upgrade could also be somewhat tempermental on occasion.
