The ipod touch is excellent for what it's designed to do, too bad marketing has it pegged as an ipod.

It's a half assed mp3/media player (storage and price issues) but if you consider it first as a PDA with media playing capabilities, its peerless.

It's like an Axim on crack as opposed to the next true ipod.

QFT the touch is amazing as a PDA.

I like to find a high-res image of Windows, make it the wallpaper, hide the icons, dock and the top bar. And then stand back and watch everything unfold.

It's best to use Vista or ME as the wallpaper. Also, yank the mouse and keyboard out.

you can hide the menu bar?

edit: toms hardware hasn't been reliable in many many years.

I'm sorry, I meant open the image fullscreen. 😛

My Macbook Pro just got delivered today. Great little machine. Never played with it too much yet, but piclens and photo booth work great 🙂

I'm a PC guy myself, but I love Macintosh Notebooks.

My wife just surprised me with a 8gb iTouch as my early Valentine :gift:. She told me to use it to keep track and trade my stocks while at work since I don't have access to a computer. She knows I use the old fashion method of touch tone phone to keep up to date on stock price while at work.

Half ass??? As an audio player, it is no different as compared to all other IPods. As a video player, it has no peers vs the rest of the IPod line. Yes, you pay a premium for that Apple name in the front. And you pay another premium for solid state vs HD. As for storage, I really, really don't know why so many people insist on carrying their entire library on them.

But once SDK SW becomes available, yeah the potential of the Touch will be fully shown.

32gb & $500 is piss poor value when you're looking for a media player.

Now 32GB for $500 is a great value for a PDA with Wifi, GPS and everything else.

If you're just looking for a media player, theres no reason to go for a touch. The touchscreen is not exactly the most effective interface for a media player.

Some Chicago people should do a mini meetup next week wed/thurs and have drinks with me while I'm in town for the auto show 😀

(That and lend me a Wii composite video cable! or a female 5-RCA to male VGA)

not that i care one way or another, but ars did a review of macbook air w and w/o ssd...results proved insignificant (save for better multitasking) compared to the $1300 increase.

I can't wait to have the monies for an iphone :0

This thing is bad ass. And the macbook air is very snappy with ram drive.

Peace, out!

What's the point of a thin and light notebook if it only lasts 2.5 hours on battery?
