PostFix vs. qMail

Will be a high volume email server that needs the ability to dynamically create email alias's via form post/sql database entry. Will Operate on FreeBSD.

My research points to Qmail, but have had some fingers point to Postfix.

I need to set this plan in stone......... which would you use?

Postfix, because it works with IMGate. 😀

My ranking in robustness would be:

1.) Exim
2.) Postfix
3.) qmail
4.) Sendmail

But, when I say robustness I am talking the thousands and thousands of users level.

Which one works best with FreeBSD, are they similar/harder/easier to use than any other one, and how about a few million users?

Postfix can probably handle a few million users, given the proper hardware, redudancy, bandwidth, and configuration. I don't know where you are getting a few million users from though. 😀

Postfix works great with any BSD, and most other Linux's/Unix's. Sendmail is the default MTA with FreeBSD.

The qmail vs postfix debate is not one worth bringing up. Both depend on the admin, and both are very good systems. Search marc.theaimsgroup.com for more flame fests involving this debate.
