OP, see what I mean by the misimpression thing? The expectation is that Mennonites have a certain "look". There's not a lot of understanding of the Mennonite church as a mainstream and fairly common denomination.

shocked... i didn't know that people had negative preconceptions aboiut mennonites... most menonnites i know are really cool.. they do lots of volunteering, etc... they don't wear old style cloths like the Amish or anything like that... they are imho a little more down to earth compared to the catholics, etc..

I don't necessarily think the impression is negative, just "different". And I don't see a problem with leaving the word in there, as long as you know that some people might not understand it very well and skip over the ad because of their misconception.
