I'm a film student and posted an ad in craigslist asking for other film students to email me if they'd like to practice on some short films together. I got a few hundred replies and dwindled the group down to around 20 people... How can I make sure that I don't get some crooks in this bunch? Of course I plan on meeting them at a public place first - is it too weird to ask for photocopies of IDs (with all personal info other than their name scratched out)? Is there anything else I can do to make sure that I can track down someone if they say walk away with a video camera?

Are you sure you aren't the guy who posted wanting to clean women's homes in the nude in exchange for them humilating and degrading him? :Q

i dunno. at some point you just have to trust people. it would help if they were supplying some of the equipment instead of it all being you.
