Postal Service ripped us off again.

Remember that nice rate increase we suffered a few months ago? CBS news just reported the USPS admitted to some accounting errors. Seems they've been over-paying into some retirement account...supposedly. So they over-estimated their expenses by a substantial amount. But they have some good news....they're now saying we won't get another rate increase for at least four years.

This is in effect saying they didn't need their last increase at all. What a bunch of lying mothers. Why don't they just roll back the rate increase? Ha! That'll never happen.

Another postal service rip-off. Sorry Moonie.

Have you seen the new dollar bills they're going to release next year? They're sticky on the back, and when you need to send a letter you just stick the dollar bill on the envelope.

Which rate increase? To $0.37 stamps or the zone system for shipping packages and whatnot? The zone system sucks and makes cross country shipments (such as ones in FS/FT) sucktacular.

You mean you've got to pony up an extra 3¢ every time you send a letter? You poor, lost soul. It's still just about the cheapest postal service in the world. Whine, whine, whine.

The 3 cent increase on letters, I don't care about that.

What I do care about is when I want to send something like a video card to California (where practically everybody lives) and it costs $14...while UPS ground, will charge like $4 with a tracking number.

65 billion a year in sales? Wow, that's not very much. Might barely cover a year of the "war on drugs"

Look I don't really know if Moonie is Postal. Heh. As much as he defends the USPS, you almost think he works there.

Three cents here, a few dollars there, couple hundred for this....paid a property tax bill yesterday that totaled $1200. When some of you guys start paying for everything, you'll also start noticing these little increases.

The Zone system does suck, I really feel bad sometimes when I buy stuff. I bought a router this summer from a guy, package wasn't heavy or anything, cost him like $10 to mail it to me. A couple weeks ago, I bought a gamecube from someone here, cost him $20 for priority mail with insurance from cali to indiana. I decided I needed money more then a gamecube, so I sold it to a guy in Wisconsin. Cost me ~$12 to ship it. Its nuts sometimes

Well, at least their accounting error was for a different reason - unlike Worldcom and Enron. :(

WTF? Stop sending your video cards with next day shipping. I've sent so many packages with Priority mail & delivery confirmation and even with the rate increase it's only $4.35 Alot of the packages get there in 2 days or sometimes 3 days. UPS ground can suck it... it would take 4 at the least, 5-6 more likely, and even 7 sometimes.

When you can ship a letter from Maine to Hawaii for cheaper than $.37, or hell, even $.40 let me know.

Hehe, I see the Postmaster General is at it again. You can see Bluefront's previous work here.

I posted the following and much more in that thread. It was a fine example of people who know nothing diagnosing and solving problems about which, if they had a hand in, they would only make worse:
-----------------
Moonbeam Quote:

This is truly hilarious. It reminds me of the elephant in the dark. This long muscular thingi with air going in and out needs to be redesigned to service eight mailboxes. Two of these large pillar like things need to be removed. They are redundant and not cost effective. This letter sorting machine needs to be brought into the twentieth century. It's running on hay. This glue from the machine for the application of adhesives to envelopes needs to be considerably thickened. It's way too runny and tastes like piss. We need to stop standing under and pulling our ideas out of this large cavity under the employee whip. We're getting covered with Sh1t and our ideas smell correspondingly.

Gentlemen, and ladies, but I don't see any of those here. The Postal Service is a huge organization. It's profoundly complex. Thousands of informed man hours are going into managing and improving its operation. Go referee a baseball game. There at least the rules are sufficiently simple that you will have a chance to grasp them with some modicum of effort. Also, you will have a group of enthusiasts to comment and provide feedback on your performance. Right now you are just whistling out your asses

I know the truth hurts, and I just hate it when people come by and say something like "you're a moron" so, because the topic is quite boring, and I don't want to waste my time refuting every point, I'll take just one. Three day delivery. Look at the Mississippi. How inefficient that it flows along in it's banks 24 seven. How about we have it run 3 days a week. And so on. Pick a subject you know something about.
-----------------------------

My theory is that Bluefront failed the Postal Exam and that?s why he's bitter. He can't explain how people fresh off the boat pass with flying colors. :D

But it's only a theory. people get irrational for all kinds of reasons.

The real joke is that the Postal Service is mandated by law to break even over time. They shoot for a profit in year one, break even in year two and a loss in year three of the normal rate cycle. Looks like they will make enough at first to not start loosing money for four instead of three years. That means we will not pay more for an extra year. Wow, what a rip off huh?

Bluefront, why don't you take up knitting. You'd be more productive and if you get really wound up you could always st@b yourself in the leg for an outlet. Oh and be sure to forward your ideas to the Postmaster General. He's waiting on pins and needles for your suggestions on how things SHOULD be run. :D

It adds up though when you are mailing mass mail, like wedding invitations.

Package shipments to Hawaii and Alaska are still cheaper by Priority Mail than UPS or FedEx's air services. *That's* value!

And once again, Moonie provides the perfect example of a perfect socialist.

I'll venture a member of my family is way up the ladder at the USPS than Moonbeam is!

I could fill a book with the atrocities perpertrated in their name. Secretly of course.

The USPS is routinely used for political payoffs both domestic and abroad.

You folks are forgetting that the Postmaster General demands that huge fleets of POS Segway units be purchased for joyridding, that's big $$ down the drain when much cheaper alternative transportation methods already exist.
