Postal question...

Ichinisan

Lifer
I have a TON of rebates that are supposed to have been postmarked today. The post offices are closed because it's Saturday. I don't think that the mail has run in my neighborhood, but I cannot be sure. My brother is coming to pick up the rebates from me at work and try to get them postmarked/sent.

Do any postal employees have any advice?

Would I have better luck trying to find a mail carrier who has not finished his/her route?

Make sure you go to a central facility, thats the only way to get them postmarked.

Excellent job procrastinating

Procrastination certainly cost you some money. Try and find a postal machine that businesses use. It can print out postage with a postdate on it.

i thought post offices are open on saturdays.

Eh, don't worry about it. Even if you mailed them a week ago, they'll still find another way to reject the rebate. I just got a postcard the other day from one of the rebate companies that says (and I'm not kidding) "Thank you for you purchase, and even though the submission was flawless, we are still going to screw you over with a random fault pre-determined by the computer systems at the time of submission. We hope you continue to choose our products in the future."

Really, if you know a company who has their own postage printing machine, you can date them whenever you'd like. The post office certainly doesn't like pre-dating mail, but they will still deliver it. If it's just one or maybe two pieces of mail, it'll likely just slip through unnoticed.

you need to find a 24 hour post office

most post offices are open on Saturday mornings, you should have gotten up early and went to the post office, i don't know why you say they are closed on saturday

They are open on Saturday here, but they were already closed for the rest of the day at the time I made my post.

Anyway, I think my brother WAS able to intercept a postal carrier further down the route.

*whew

I was just about to suggest that. We also have a USPS near the Portland International Airport which is open 24/7.
