Post your WD Raptor HD Tach Results

MDE

Lifer
For s#its and giggles, anyone with a Raptor (single or RAID) post a screenshot of your HD Tach results (long test) as well as the following info:

36GB or 74GB, how many?
RAID? If so, what level?
Controller model

My results
2x36GB
RAID-0
Intel ICH5R

I'm curious as to how my results compare to others.

Graphs are universal 😛
I mean screenshots in general are just more crisp and readable in .GIF than .JPG. 😱

True, but .jpg works fine and it's just a reflex for me to save pictures as JPEGs. It's a shame at how off topic this thread is now, care to make us feel insignificant with some SCSI results? 🙂

Raptors are slow

Also, defragging makes no difference for HDtach. The data on the drive, or lack there of, has no affect on the benchmark.
We all bow to the almighty SCSI...

Of course a 15,000 RPM SCSI drive is going to be faster than a 10,000 RPM IDE drive with a bridge chip.

Raptors in RAID 0.

First time I used the software so I don't know if I overlooked anything. It looked pretty simple to use though.

Why have I got so much up and down oscillation?

Two 74GB
RAID 0 as stated
Promise 20376 on my getting ancient P4PE. (AMD64 overhaul coming this holiday season)

The "oscillation" on the graph is exactly why I started this thread. Is this common with RAID-0 in general or just Raptors in RAID-0?

I used a .Gif at first because yes they are better for text but for some reason for mine it was comming out like ass. I think it might have been because I have more than 256 colors on mine, not sure though.

To the guy who said defrag has nothing to do with the benchmark, that may be but it seemed to help a little bit with mine of course it may have just been a coincidence.

The oscillations are HDtach's fault. The benchmark is known to not work correctly with RAID arrays. Winbench has a more accurate STR test that works properly with RAID arrays.

HDTach is a lowlevel test that ignores everything on the drive including partition information. Whatever is on the drive has no affect on the results. Variations in results are evidence of HDTach's inability to produce consistant results.

It should also be added, that the bridge chip has no affect on SATA performance.
