Don't remember... I set up my wifi then turned it off and plugged my computer in with LAN port.

These threads always become people re-posting the same ones they've seen online before.

Don't post if you got the idea from someone else's SSID. We probably saw it online already.

I can't to anywhere without seeing "FBI Surveillance Van."

Even from my apartment, there's:

- Pretty Fly for a WiFi
- (v) (;,,;) (V) Why not Zoidberg?

Mine's Coldspot.

Aren't you supposed to use the same SSID between bands to facilitate easy switching between them if necessary?

You mean: "...to have no ^%%## clue which one your device is going to try to use?"

Bad idea. Most routers default to using different SSID's for a good reason. 5GHz doesn't seem to penetrate walls very well, so I like to make sure my mobile devices use the 2.4GHz connection. My Apple TV and game consoles use 5GHz or direct-wired connection.

If a device's network stack hasn't been designed poorly, it will normally prefer the 5GHz network unless the performance isn't high enough.

One SSID and telling your client how to do it is the best way.

Thread related, one of my friends is an old rap/hiphop fan and current DJ, his is FUCKSHACK. (edit for 2Live Crew reference)

...and what does your smartphone / tablet connect to?

I don't have a smartphone:).

But when I need to download something to my Kindle, I use the "family" internet wifi that no one bothers to turn off -- saves me from having to log into my router and enable wifi.

Edit: Grrrr... I logged in and checked.

BATTMAN

AutoCAD users will get that one.
