someone pm'd be about this, but I accidentally deleted the message. So in regard to a new tablet I think I'm going to go with the wacom graphire3 6x8 tablet.

For comparison, I'm currently using an old 4x5 "art-z 2" tablet which has 256 levels of pressure and 500lpi. The graphire 3 is obviously much larger, but also has 512 levels of pressure (probably more than necessary) and more importantly is ~2000lpi (wayyyy more resolution).

best price I've found is ~150.00

ONLY $150? Where? $150 is the price on all the entry level stuff I can find.

here

w/shipping it was 160 for me.

Much appreciated. I was about to spend $300 on that same tablet.

Am I too late?

damn, I forgot how much fun illustrator is with even a POS wacom. anywho, here's my rendition

it's been about 3 weeks and I was a bit ambivalent about the results of my first try with this one (it was the first wacom portrait I tried). Anywho, I decided to kinda redo it, but in a slightly different style than what I've done so far. The results are a little bit more airbrushed looking, but I kinda like it. What do you guys think?

second rendition

Yeah, same here.

The new one is truer to the source, but the original looks more interesting. :)

Your profile was up to date, I looked at the site in your sig. Surely seattle can't beat the greatness that is iowa, right?

how do you do this??? dont tell me its just with MS PAINT...it has to be some kinda program...?

you seriously understimate the power of mspaintXP

J/K, it's adobe illustrator. I am going to try painter soon though, it's got an awesome paint engine (use drying times and such)-
