Here's my initial results from the new MadOnion benchmark:

CPU 3595 Mem 2659 HDD 733

Looks like they are pretty good ratings based on the other systems in my range.

In the results browser at MadOnion.Com, why are the top two a 1.2GHz Celeron and a 1.17GHz Athlon... the 1.8GHz Athlon down the list is has a score of about half of the first entry. If you look at the detailed results the top two don't have any scores that come close to the 3rd one. I was expecting to see some one benchmark, like Jpeg encode or something, that was just massively faster on the top two than the rest, but there wasn't. Every benchmark was slower. So there is something hosed with the way it comes up with PCMark 2002 CPU numbers.

Yep, and it's showing everyone's P4 2.0A as 1960MHz. No other ID program does that. Even 3DMark2001SE shows my CPU at deafult as 2009 MHz.

Here's what I managed...
CPU = 3768
MEM = 3426
HDD = 727

I'm not sure how accurate that benchmark is... when I went to see my results online, it claimed my 3DMark2001 score was 6XXX but I remember when I ran 3DMark2001 last week, I got a score well into the 7000s. Oh well.

(No changes from everyday setup....... I happen to like my hi-res, icon filled, wallpapered desktop and all
those silly little background apps. ie: I always bench pretty low)

My work computer, a 700MHz P-III IBM ThinkPad:

CPU: 1875
Memory: 1065
HD: 164

And they gave me a "better" computer because I use AutoCAD. Yeah right.

I have a feeling some of the top scores posted on Mad Onion are spoofed using the same speed cheat CS players used.

I KNOW the two top scores are.

CPU: 6147

edit: the program finds my cpu as 2.46 though it correctly identifies the fsb...18x140 = 2,520mhz...what math are they using???

Number one is a Celeron posting a CPU score over 10,000. Tell me that ain't hoaxed?

I'm not sure how it's done, I just know it's the "speed cheat" used in Counter Strike and TFC. (Hint: I've never tried it... look up "speed cheat" and "Counter strike" on the net) It makes the CPU appear to be working faster than it is to programs. I think it speeds up the system clock. It is able to give outrageous CPU scores in SiSoft Sandra as well.

Yep, it identified my 2.0A P4 as 1960, even though every other program shows it as 2009. I clocked my P4 to 2440 (122x20), and it showed it as 2380.

They are confused, I guess.
