<< P4 1.6a @ 2.4GHz(150FSB @ 3:4) >>

Yours is pretty big, John. :) Say I thought the P4B266 could only apply the 3:4 ratio at 132 MHz and under yet you seem to have your memory running at 200 MHz while at a 150 MHz FSB....?

I have read mixed reports on the 3:4 setting (auto), so I cannot give a firm answer. The auto setting @ 150FSB yields higher memory bandwidth according to SANDRA.

What I heard on one forum, to find the actualy clock cycles for a processor amd and p4, you take its cpu speed.. for example a p4 1.6a northwood overclocked to 2.4 and multiply it by 6 and you get 14,400 clock cycles.... and then you take a amd athlon xp processor speed for example my processor 1,6ghz oc to1.7 and multiply it by 9... 1,700x9=15,300 ... so the 1.7ghz amd processor is faster than the 2.4 p4 processor because the clock cycles for the amd are more than the p4 15,300>14,400 ... thats why they say Mhz dont matter

but that is only speed... all the other things count to like cache, etc ,etc.. so they are about even in the end

The reason I chose a P4 over an Athlon for overclocking was because I could overclock my P4 and still have it running quiet. With an Athlon, I would need a screeming delta to really do any overclocking. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big AMD fan. I really just wanted to try something new.

Gigagyte 8SRX
P4 1.8A @ 2GHz <-- I have got it up to 2.2GHz at default voltage, but I don't have any of my case fans in yet so the temps were a little high for my taste.
Idle 39c Load 45c
GeForce 4 Ti4400 @ 300/600 <-- I haven't tried any higher yet. It is so fast now that I don't even need to overclock it anymore. When I get bored
with it I will probably go for more.

Or just get watercooling, I would to try that some day.... another question...do you know why my idle temps dont go below like 48.... everyones are in the lower 40's... and i hae the alpha 8045, 2nd best heatsink next to swifty 462.... why are they so high.. also have a Panaflo H1A 39cfm and 32db... i uninstalled the heatsink because i thought i put too few AS3 on and cleared that AS3 and added a little more than before.. still the same temps... like 50idle and 58 full load with prime...... wtf... i also have very good case cooling.. my overclocks arent that high.. only 141fsb at 1.85 volts... hmmm... i didnt pay for a 35$ heatsink for the temps to be like a stock heatsink.. anyone know what the problem is?

:Q wow, those are pretty high Vcores you guys are using!!!!

I'm at stock voltage (1.75V), using an Alpha PAL8045 + Panaflo L1a. Case fans (3) are all L1a's also, so my Athlon is actually quieter than my PIII-450 (Katmai)

Water cooling is a hastle if you switch out components with any regularity;)

:D Got a Ti200 from Sparkle (Live in UK) at default 175 core and 400 Memory plus mem is 3.8ns! running perfectly with no extra cooling at 250 core and 550 mem - not bad for half the price of Ti500!! AND fps are 190fps on a Duron 700!! (in Q3) and getting 6500 on 3DMark2001 SE (might be 8000-9000 on a 2000+ P4 2.2GHz)

Sweet bliss this card1:)

Hmmm. Running a p4 1.6a@133FSB @default Voltage with an Akura (SP) Sunflower HSF on a MSI 845 Ultra ARU. Prior to flashing my BIOS MY CPU Temp was16C IDLE.. Of course that was wrong. When I flashed it it rose to around 37-42 C Idle. I had some original Artic Silver so I used that but I don't think it's cutting it. I'm going to get AS3 for it. I also have a couple of 10,000RPM SCSI Drives warming that case up so I'm not really disapointed in my temps. It's cooler than my Tbird and I was able to get rind of 3 case fans which was a huge improvement as far as loudness went.

On second thought I'll save the rant for another time:)

Gainward GeForce2 Pro/450 at 220/450
Right now CPU temp: 46C, case temp 35C.

Hey Guys,
jus wondering wot's the highest o/c speeds or percentage o/c you lot got on videocards WITHOUT any visual artifacts?
mine works around at about 30% for core and 27.3% for memory and thats without extra cooling (thinking of gettin a better fan/heatsink combo)

I didn't even bother to OC it past 140FSB. At that speed it ran 3DMark2001 loops without any visual artifacts. I 'm sure I could get more out if it if I upped the voltage. I'm not bitterly disappointed in the performance I just expected more.

WHY?

Ha! the need for speed :p

always room for more.. well possibly... plus my temps are nice, so i figure i can get more ..
