Post your least favourite song of all time.

Neil Diamond's original folk-rock version is pretty good.

My first thought was Key$ha's "Tick Tock" but I'd also accept Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight" or almost anything from Maroon 5.

Duran Duran's Ordinary World evokes an immediate burning hatred in my soul. It's always been that way and I have absolutely no idea why. Maybe I was molested while that song played and I've done a good job repressing it... But it makes me violently ill whenever I hear it.

The Man of Constant Sorrow from the O, Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack has a similar effect, but that's because my mother got that album when it came out and listened to nothing else for approximately ever. Love the film, but that song makes my skin crawl.

I don't think I've ever heard that version, though I do love Neil Diamond.

My second most hated song is Breakfast at Tiffanys by Deep Blue Something because a restaurant I worked at had it playing on a loop while we would prep in the morning. So freaking annoying, but I still love Audrey Hepburn.

I cant think of a consistently bad song because something keeps coming out in the pop world that makes me completely change the scale of how bad I thought something previously was. In more recent memory, that crying* gotye bitch's song and that call me maybe song.

*crying all the way to the bank

😀

I actually like that song...though I've only heard it a handful of times. :\

Key$ha's "Tick Tock"

This. Or anything by Adele - she was tolerable at first but I got tired of her WAY before commercial radio did.

But GOD I hate Ke$ha with every passion in my body. Her whiny ass voice makes me want to kill her or anyone who likes her. She's the least talented individual in music - PERIOD.

All those mentioned are leagues better than say most of the crap that came out ion the 80's think - Tears for Fears - Shout.

call me maybe
A couple weeks ago I went to a local pool hall that has a diverse array of music on the jukebox (the bartenders are into Type O Negative and the like, so there's generally a heavy industrial vibe). Some jackass put on "Call Me Maybe" and then followed it up with the entirety of Taylor Swift's latest album. Who the goddamn fuck does that? It was like playing pool at a pre-teen girls' slumber party.

i absolutely would have left. i'd rather drink alone at home than have my ears assaulted.

dude. You are the coolest person I know...

In that same light, the Ben Fold's Five song: "Brick" annoyed the piss out of me for a long time. I was quite into them, so when Forever and Ever Amen was first released, I was on it like white on rice. I already knew a few of the tunes from seeing them locally, but after a month or so (despite having liked it initially), Brick began to really annoy me.

Then....it hit the radio. And Letterman. And SNL, and was everywhere for way too long.

I turned it into a drinking game. I started dancing around, singing along (despite having never heard any of the songs before) and taking a big swig of whiskey whenever I felt a piece of my soul dying. It was cathartic, in the sense that getting blasted on hooch to escape your surroundings can serve as an excellent revelationary experience. For example, I learned that Taylor Swift sucks. That's good information to have.
