Vid card upgrades are done every year, altho the last two years I've bought ahead of the curve enough to make it 1.5 years between cards (unfortunately paid a lot more money for those cards too then previous years)

Average video card price for last two vid cards - $250
Average video card price for three cards before the above two cards - $150
 
i didnt have them all very long but.


current = sapphire x700 pro 128mb
last 2= evga 6600gt 128mb, and ati x700pro 256mb

(downgraded to save money, that and the evga sounded like a hairdryer)
