Those are pretty good numbers for the single drive.. I never tested the drives seperately..

It's on the Asus A7N8X DLX 2.0 with the Silicon Image Sil 3112A Controller (native)
I had a WD 120GB Sata drive on an MSI KT4 Ultra-FISR (Promise controller, not native) and when I moved it to the Asus it gained about 10MB/sec in average speed.

I think the difference is in the Silicone Image controller..

cant wait to get home and run it again, have a new 200Gig and 2xWD800JB in RAID0

HDTach is free, but you have to have a pay code to run it on NTFS (2000 and up )

Wow, 2.70 is FAST compared to 2.61! The free version does work with NTFS.

WD 1200JB PATA
random access: 13.1ms
Burst: 89.7 MB/sec
Max: 50.4 MB/sec
Min: 28.2 MB/sec
Avg: 42.0 MB/sec
CPU 2.9%

Whats up with the high CPU utilization some of you guys have?

I didn't bother to close any programs; I care too little about benchmarks to do that.

Raptor on Silicon Image controller (Asus A7N8X Deluxe)

Random Access Time 8.6ms
Burst: 100.4 MB/s
Read max: 80.4 MB/s
minimum: 37.2 MB/s
Average read: 50.4 MB/s
40.3% CPU < Looks kinda odd to me (never mind... seems low after looking at some of the other results)

Neither did I. IE, itunes, NAV, Outlook, etc running. Why such a big difference from one to another? Is HDTach accurate?

I dunno but I would necessarily base it on how fast a HD is. If it were true, my 7200.7 wouldn't crash and burn in real world applications compared to the WD Special Edition that I posted..

I think it's a HDTach error... 2.61 reports it low, 2.70 reports it high... I ran them both today one after the other.

Ok, so why is everyone else with RAID 0 getting scores from 30 to sub-60MB/sec yet I get 85? I'm guessing it's that the Silicon Image (one I have) is a native controller and the others aren't?
