We all catch ourselves doing stupid things now and then, sometimes almost daily. I'm not talking about Darwin-award drinking gasoline stupid just your daily or weekly fuckup or time waster. Like oh say... forgetting about the search and replace function and spending 3 hours editing a document by hand when you could have spent 3min. Or getting really exited about something and "fake" punch the wall, only you accidentally put a hole in the wall. I remember a guy telling me on usenet once that he spent something like 3 hours taking the lid off a trunk and screwing it on in reverse so it could be used the other way around. Then later he realized he could have just rotated the trunk. lol

Mine to start things off. I pulled the towel rack out of the wall in the bathroom. I have this really stupid weight scale that sits on 4 unstable legs. Unless you get on it just right it tips over and you fell like you are about to go for a fall. So when I use it I usually carefully balance myself against the towel rack to make sure I'm placing my weight evenly on the scale. This time I placed too much force on the rack oops.

So let's hear your latest daily fuckup. Nothings too small or stupid.

Title edited - you know why.

Not my fault.. helped someone out, and now I'll either get 5 hours of sleep or miss my math class (which I do not want).

I looked for a replacement battery lid/door for my sister's camera... it broke years ago when the camera was brand new and the tape she had been using to hold it closed simply didn't work. It was unbelievably annoying when you take the picture and it shuts off before it has saved and then the opportunity is gone before you get it booted up again (or it happens AGAIN while booting).

I looked online and Kodak said that parts were no longer available for it, though I could order battery doors for their other cameras. I looked for similar models that may have the same door and didn't find any which still had parts available.

I spent, like, over 3 hours fixing it using a push-pin to make a hole in the cap, then driving a meticulously shaped staple through it so that it would replace the missing bit of plastic. I super-glued the excess staple on the outside, which made it harder to put in the charging dock but ensured that the important part would not move or come loose. It took me hours because of how hard it was to shape that staple in such a small way using needle-nosed pliers from a jeweler's kit... kinda made a rounded "U" in the tip then bent the rest 90-degrees to go through the cap and then bent it again to sit flat on the outside.

It worked great! BETTER than it did before... It even had a satisfying "click" when locked/unlocked. Then I looked on eBay and found a battery door for about $2. !@$!$#@

Wow I wouldn't even think of looking to buy a battery door in the first place but now that you mention it it's the perfect money maker for those who like to collect spare parts like this. Battery doors have got to be some of the worst designed parts of everyday electronics those fuckers are the first thing to break, and afterwards your 500 buck sweet toy looks ghetto-tastic lol.

Invariably, replacing batteries "in the field" would cause the tape to lose tackiness plus it was kinda hard to get it taped down with enough pressure to begin with. The rechargeable pack was toast after so long, likely hastened by the freed battery door pushing it off the dock with the spring-loaded battery pack pushing on it (it wouldn't fit with the tape applied).

I was only checking eBay out of curiosity... I wanted to see how much the camera I fixed was still worth in an attempt to justify spending so much time fixing it.

I nearly choked myself out.

I wanted to see if the electric windows in someones car would stop if I put my head out the window clickt he button up. Suffice to say it did not stop and I was F0CKING quick to put it back down so it wouldn't actually choke me out! But me being smart and all had to try it again :p and yes I DID NOT try a 3rd time! lol

When I was younger I tried to ride my bike with my eyes closed. I proptly twatted myself in to a wooden lamp post! Doh!

I was sweat soldering a new valve onto a copper pipe in my bathroom over the weekend. I've never had a problem with soldering, but I was having trouble getting this one right. Somehow I splattered a bit of molten solder on my bare leg. I knocked it off immediately and had a big white spot on my leg where several layers of skin used to be. Surprisingly it didn't hurt that much and still hasn't bothered me much at all.

A few months ago, a co-worker and I were looking at Ford stock on Yahoo finance and I told him that we should buy it. It was $1.03 per share.

Today....facepalm ($7.04 and rising).

Yesterday I had a servers AD object selected on my left monitor but thought I was clicked on a notepad file I had open on my right that had a entry highlighted that I wanted to delete, so I hit deleted and deleted the servers AD object :(

Was easy enough to fix, but I said outloud "oh fuck!"

I'd never be able to finish.
