I've got a problem...

My girlfirends COmputer:
1.4Ghz @ 1.47Ghz
MSI K7T Turbo Limited
250Wt PS

Here's the Problem...
71 degrees C CPU temp!!!!No internal fans, nothing, except Thermaltake Volcano 5 CPU HS/Fan

Thinking of putting a intake fan at the front of the computer, what else can I do to bring the temp down! I lowered the FSB and took it back to 1.4Ghz...but don;t know if that will do enough...

I had horrible temp problems with a Volcano 5 as well. Not 71, but I did have an intake fan and 2 blowing out the back.

I just put a Vantec 6035D on, and it's WAAYYYYYYYYYYY cooler.

Kanalua,

The k7t-turbo reads "higher" than most other motherboards.... depending on your ambient systme temps on that system, they may be fairly normal based on the cooler/motherboard you are using.

WA261, murphy55d, Mikewarrior2: Thanks for the suggestons. I went out and got a intake fan and some Arctic Silver Thermal paste, temps dropped ~mid-60s C. Better than the mid-high 70s it was giving before.

<< If you really want more accurate temps get an LCD monitor. Like this one! I am using it. Mobo says cpu @full load is 37c but LCD shows 43c. This alone shows what a difference the mobo shows. Even LCD is not 100% right. But much closer! >>

accurate?? where's calibration certificate for that thing?

XP1600 1.4@1.6
Alpha PAL8045 with 80mm fan.
Room: 22C

Was:
Delta 68.5CFM 80mm fan for CPU (blowing) and 130CFM Y.S.Tech 120mm at side blow hole.
CPU idle/loaded: 32/32 C
MainBoard: 24C

The Delta is too loud. I swapped it with a Y.S.Tech.

Now:
Y.S.Tech 48.5CFM 80mm (suction mode) and 130CFM Y.S.Tech 120mm at side blow hole.
CPU idel/loaded: 38/42C
MainBoard: 28C

Any one uses Delta with rheostat? How much noise can be reduced?

Switching from 7v to 12v dips my load 1 or 2 degrees
