For me, my phone is a huge part of my life. The ironic thing is that I hardly ever use it for phone calls. Here is my phone's average day:

6am its alarm (smarter alarm) goes off and begins to tell me about my day. It tells me the weather, if anyone important has a birthday, if I have anything important scheduled. So I'm touching my phone within seconds of waking up.

Next I check my email. Usually before I get out of bed but sometimes during my morning...well you know.

Then I read some inspirations things (I use 12 step companion or bible app) while drinking my coffee. Works great for morning meditation since my brain is technically dead.

After that its time to hit the road. My car stereo has a bluetooth adapter so I can stream while driving. Usually I fire up Slacker and listen to some comedy but other days I'll use Doggcatcher to listen to some podcasts. I always turn on the GPS just in case I need to use it while driving it will already have a lock.

Once I'm at work my phone goes on vibrate and chills in my pocket. During breaks I use it to check email and during lunch I'll surf the web or play a game.

After work I'll stream some more comedy or podcasts.

Once I'm home my phone is a web cruiser. I prefer it to being tied down to my desktop and it completely replaced my laptop. Most days I'll check out some new apps or play with my desktop settings.

Then once its time for bed, I'll either do some reading on the Kindle app or listen to some chilling music. I admit that I am guilty of checking my email in the middle of the night if I wake up and can't get back to sleep.

My phone is a busy little guy.

Gets about 15 minutes of use per day - voice only, mostly talking to my wife :).

I use my phone as an alarm 3 days a week - 445 wake up. Da Rude Sandstorm gets you out of bed real quick!

During the day I play Wordfeud with a couple of friends. I use it to keep track of my email and check into Facebook from time to time. When I'm bored I'll read a couple of new FML's. I use Grooveshark hooked up to some speakers for music while working on my heavy bag and I'll use it with headphones when I run.

I use it for texting all the time and maybe a phone call or two a day. Mainly texting back and forth with my wife.

Mostly data and text. I probable talk 30 minutes when I'm working and close to none when I'm off. Probably around 30 texts a day. When I'm working I stream a few hours of music and podcasts plus general browsing. Average around 400 minutes combined, 1000 texts, and 5GB's of data a month.

I pick it up, I put it in my coat pocket. I drive to work, when I get there I pull it out of my pocket and put it on my desk. It stays on my desk until I get up to walk out of the bay, at which point I slide it into my pants pocket. When I get back to my desk, I pull it out of my pocket and put it on my desk. Rinse and repeat as needed. At the end of the day, I put it in my coat pocket, then drive home. Once home, I pull it out of my pocket and put it on the kitchen counter (designated phone parking spot) and/or plug it into the charger. There it sits until the next day, where I repeat the process.

Every few days, it might ring at some random point during the day. I'll generally give a glaring look at it, look at the number, and 9 times out of 10 I will reject the call. The other 1 time it might be my wife or a number that piques my interest, in which I'll answer it.

And occasionally, when I'm not around a computer, I will use it to text my wife via GoogleVoice.

For what it's worth, it's a Samsung Vibrant on T-Mobile paygo prepaid. I put $25 on it once every few months as needed.

I have a HTC HD2 with WM6.5.

In the morning, it's an alarm next to my bed. The home screen shows the time, weather and calendar events.

During the commute, it's used to check emails, make plans for lunch, web browse or read books.

During work, it's used as aux email checker in case I'm don't notice a new email that's come in. Occasional phone call or text.

After work, it's used to automatically check for unexpected urgent work emails. Occasional phone calls and continuing to read.

Project Gutenberg allows you to download ebooks in html format. This is nice to use in browser. :)

Minutes = 100 per month, so average 3 or 4 a day.

Monday - Friday = Watching stocks gets a workout during the market's hours via Google Finance. (Trading when away from a computer). Email between family members about our thoughts on the stocks / market. (Makes my phone a nice business expense :) )

I try to use Endomondo 5-6 times per week to track my walks / bike rides, etc. (Most of the time with some sort of streaming music at the same time)

Otherwise, my other usage is pretty occasional looking up this or that.

At night it sits in another room and the only thing I will hear is the ring.

Op what's the smart alarm called?

I use it as an alarm to wake up, traffic email, camera on the go, few phone calls and lots of texts, check the web to look up something and to waste time on.

- 6am and the Alarm goes off. It's in a dock showing the clock in 'bedside mode' so it doesn't buzz or ping in the night.
- after showering I'll check email breifly to see if anyone important has mailed, otherwise I'll leave it till later
- Check weather for the day to see if I'll need an umbrella
- on train into the city I'll read my RSS feeds via Viigo.
- Still on the train I'll use Opera to surf here & TFNN
- Check Tube status and if I need to work out my journey with the Tube Map app
- more email
- calls
- If on a site with no internet access I'll download attachments to my phone then transfer them to my laptop to work on them
- BBM the wife throughout the day
- on the way home on the train I do the same as on the way in, RSS and web.
- at the end of the day it goes back on the dock ready for the next morning.

That's what I'm using it for this week as I'm working in central London. Next week it the apps I use will change as I'll be in Belfast and I'll be using GPS apps llike Google maps and Telnav, etc to get my bearings.
