Intel's AVX implementation is much wider @ 256 bit and can be done in one cycle, AMD has to fuse two 128 bit operations (?) and it takes multiple cycles (?) - resulting in Intel-like AVX workloads running just as fast on AMD with or without AMDs AVX implementation being used.

Bulldozer/Vishera can execute 1x 256bit AVX per cycle. The only limitation is that the FPU can only accept one thread per cycle but the thread can chance each cycle. But once received by the FPU ops from multiple threads can be executed.

That is it can execute 2x 128bit per cycle but only a single 256bit AVX per cycle.
 
Is that the preferred method of overclocking AMD black cpu's? Pushing the HT speed and not increasing the multiplier?

Dont raise the HT(hyper Transport), raise the BUS and NB.

NB controls the L3 cache speed. Default for the FX8350 is 2200MHz. Some applications will see a jump in performance by increasing the NB. I dont increase it more than 2400/2500MHz for 24/7

The bus can go high, 260 or 266MHz can be easily doable with your mobo.

I prefer to use a 1:1 Bus to NB ration (240MHz) for 24/7 but you can always use a higher Bus than NB. (266MHz bus and 2400MHz NB.)

I found a fsb of 215 and a multiplier of 21 to work well with my machine. Idontcare, here's what I would do. Set everything to auto. Reboot and go into the BIOS. Find the Auto OverClock tab or setting and enable it. Reboot and see what the BIOS sets your fsb to. Good starting point. Frankly, that's how I arrived at 215 fsb. The auto overclock setting was 20 x 215. I tweeked up from that.
