well its not that crappy it cools pretty well, but is it safe to use a non-copper based HSF on a thoroughbred?

I'm sure its ok as the stock AMD coolers though pretty crappy but when compared to the good stuff, it's not that bad... After all, how many of us, honestly, can withstand the "jet-like" whine of a 6000rpm delta? Except when u're fragging & yr Klipsch Promedia 5.1THX spkrs volume is turned to 12 o'clock!

Abit NF7-S v1.2 Bios 17. I guess it must be the way the Abit measures the temp on the CPU - it is a temp. probe underneath the SocketA? I understand it's a bit off - the temps.

Well - the best forums are US based and quite a number of forum members are not from the US
Anyway it doesn't matter - the T-Bred "B" u'll eventually lay your hands on will be Assembled in Malaysia! Where I'm from

make sure your heatsink is installed the right way, my 1700+ DLT3C is at 1.85v@2.5GHz and load temp is 56c.
I also use a V7+ at medium speed.

Great to know fellow M'sians. Our AMD fab plant in Penang makes quite good T Bred "B" chips for the rest of the world
Thanks for the advice. I'm quite sure the V7+ is installed correctly. I initially had problems mounting the 3-prong clip & my heatsink "shifted" a little with the thermal paste (ASII) on the CPU die. I didn't take it out to reapply the paste. Maybe I should.

Preparations:
I didn't do any lapping - the V7+'s base looked polished enough. Just cleaned CPU die/HSF with isopropyl alcohol, prepared the HSF as advised by Artic Silver Preparation Guide
Perhaps the mounting of the V7+ affected it somewhat as I had to "angle" the HSF a bit just to get the clip under the mount
My V7+ is running Hi spd. Got used to the "jet-engine" whine after a while. I'm trying to put a mod on my HEC 6AU6 casing for the fan spd ctrl.
BTW my stock 1800+ ran at 49C w/o load, about 55 w Prime95.
FYI when I down-clocked my CPU to 2.00Ghz (166x12) I need only 1.675 VCore (in BIOS) and load temp drops to 58C max. Also I presume u're also running your rig in a non-aircond room like mine.
Only drawback is our high ambient temps & humidity...
Any advise?
Where did you buy yr V7+? I know they're selling @ Low Yat for RM150 or less.
Made a few mistakes buying the AVC Frost HSF initially, now it's lying around doing nothing... Perhaps I'll convert it for use on my Hercules R9500Pro after I've flashed the Herc's BIOS.

RM120 that's a good price. I don't know about water cooling kits & whether Compuzone sells them. If not you can try SLS @ S'pore. Alternatively u can chk the US on-line vendors like Newegg etc & chk their price.

i have checked out Compuzone's offerings.........they're really old models
my uncle is going to the US soon, so i'll get his address in the US and buy online and then ship it to him
i went to Sim Lim last year and couldn't find the model i wanted...........
and my advice is to keep your case as well ventilated and you can
i cut a few holes in strategic postions(in front of hd, 2 fans blowing at the pci and agp slots and one fan blowing directly at the cpu from the outside, a blowhole at the top)
and people can't believe i did all this at my age, 15+

No wonder your rig is running @ the temps much cooler than mine. My HEC 6UA6 casing is stock std w/o any mods, just the 2x80mm in/out fans & a GW Overcard cooler & a PCI slot cooler. That's about all.

I'll think about cutting some holes on my case, but I sort of "gave" that up a long time ago when I last recalled I was 15 yrs old! I'm double yr age!

Actually some shops @ SLS like Hardwarezone #04/ Fuwell #04 also sells Thermaltake watercooling & Prometia kits. They cost upwards SGD200+ And I don't know much abt them. You can chk their price list below:

I've reduced the VCore on my 1800+ to 1.70V @ 2.10Ghz and with Prime95 it's 58C w load. So far Prime95 hasn't returned any errors yet & running for about 45 mins alrdy.

But I read some threads that even if Prime95 doesn't return errors sometimes o/c'ed systems just "crash" out of the blue rather unexpectedly...

Heh when I was your age I was catching spiders & climbing trees in KL!

Malaysia charges obnoxious prices for the heatsinks!

I also doubt if you could find a Thermalright heatsink for anything less than RM100. Compared to $19.99 for a SK-7 in SVC.com...oh well.. at least 3 months ago

The next time when I go back to Malaysia I might get generous and help some M'sian ATers to get some stuff over here
