So, you got a PS2 and now need to get stuff to go with it. I thought it would be a great idea to consoldiate all the deals on games and accessories into one thread so that we can all benefit. Please, add to this list:

[*]Virgin Megastore is still going on (too bad I don't have one around)

[*]Games at BestBuy:

    Madden 2002
    Crash Bandicoot

$44.99
  1. Grand Theft Auto 3
    Soul Reaver 2

Saw this here and also grabbed some myself

Blockbuster has used PS2 games for 19 on up...

I got Twisted Metal Black for $19.99

They also had many for $29, including Metal Gear Solid 2, GTA3, & Tony Hawk 3...

Went to 2 places, each had a different selection, so try your luck!

KMart has an Interact "Storm Chaser" dual-shock controller, plus a 16 MB memory card for $29.99. They've also got a S-Video extension for $8.96, which seemed cheap to me.

Any hot deals on PS2 DVD remotes? Of course, I guess the $20 reg. price isn't too bad. But any recommendations on a specific model?

Get the actual sony remote. The pelican and saitek ones both suck IMHO. Plus, the sony one feels better, has a better range, and i think it has some more function buttons on it. Yeah, you can't leave it in the joystick port for a lifetime, cause you have to swap, but you figure if your gonna load the dvd in anyway you are already up off your couch. My .02

My Best Buy had the Mad Cats officially licensed 8 MB memory card on the shelf for $29.99, but they had a rack of them by the registers listed as $23.97. It rang up as $29.99, but when I mentioned it they adjusted it down to the $24 price. YMMV

Best Buy had a 3rd party Svideo/audio cable for $9.99, so not bad as well.

My local Media Play also has Metal Gear Solid 2 for $39.99. They are also giving out $5 off any game coupons at the returns desk for use after Jan 1st, so if their sale holds that would bring it down to $34.99. Nice!

Take this for what its worth - all second hand knowledge.

I have heard from a few people who used the non-Sony DVD remotes, and the PS2 broke/quit working, whatever, and the fix was not covered under warranty because the user did not use the offical Sony DVD remote. Just a warning. It's only $20 anyway.

Circuit City has 10% off all video games.

Granted this isn't much, but it is $5 off of the normal $50 games...

The 10% off is valid until the 29th

Does anyone know if the 16MB memory cards cause any problems on the PS2 like the higher storage cards did on PS1?

Can we PM? Like, bring in best buy's ad of 45 for GTA3 and 40 for MGS2, and get them to match and apply 10%?

I heard from a user said that the systems doesn't detect the card for some game. Better buy original Sony's or Mad Catz !!!Dun take the risk to interiorect or other brand......

I hear you have to put in a special memory disc to make it work, so you end up swapping a lot. That doesn't sound like much fun to me.

I didn't need a remote for my PS2 (I have my Aiwa 3-DVD Home Theater system from some other deal a while back connected to the same TV), but for some reason i've been wanting one...

anyway, I ended up buying this one just because of the coolness factor:

link to the product: http://www.easybuy2000.com/store/?cat=playstation%202&subcat=remote%20controller
link to a picture with size comparisons: http://www.easybuy2000.com/store/playstation%202/resources/controller_tumbzzz_1.jpg

I don't know much about the quality, as it's been two or three days and my order is STILL pending shipment.

I had to buy some other stuff from there, so the shipping price didn't go up for me (else I might've thought twice)...

COSTCO B&M here in Hazlet, NJ has a small selection of PS2 games for 18.99 and 26.99. Most $18.99 look like remakes of cheesy games (not sure I am not an expert). Got NHL for 26.99 looks like a good game. They also had a car crash game and some other action games for that price.

Bundles with 2 controllers, 8MB card and 1 game are still $399.

in case anyone was gonna attempt to get that remote from easybuy2000.com, i just checked my order status today and one of their comments is the controller is out of stock and I wasn't charged for it (too bad too, it really looked cool)

I bought one of these 16MB cards for my daughter, and it DOES suck. You have to run the CD that came with it EVERY TIME you power up or reset the machine, otherwise, it doesn't recognize the card.

I took it back...Not worth the hassle.

Hollywood video seems to be willing to sell any game that they have on their rental shelves... I picked up a price list from my local store. It says "Buy Any Game" at the top and lists tons of games for each platform and their prices.

Granted that the newest PS2 games are $39.99, but it is a way to save $10 off of a new game. There are a lot for less than $39 as well.

They have a ton of PS1 games as well. Most of those are much cheaper, many for less than $10.
