yeah because most phones dont come with a camera anymore :disgust:

Mine sure didn't, and I made sure of that. Yes you have fallen for a gimmick that costs you extra money, just like the cost to send an email or text messages from your phone.

Yes, I spent 500 dollars on a digital camera and memory stick last year when I deployed to Afghanistan. It was my gift to family and friends to take pictures of myself and places I visited, to let them know that I was doing ok.

I've never owned a camera before that, and I basically gave it to my wife since returning.

But a camera is a camera, and a phone is a phone regardless.

Yes a camera is a camera, and a phone is a phone, but if you have a camera phone, you don't have to carry around a giant camera to take pics of interesting or funny things you come across. My digital camera is relatively small (about 2x the size of my phone) and I still don't want to carry it around 24/7, so it's just more convenient to have a cameraphone for me.

Yup. I no longer have to carry around my 2.0MP Nikon camera thats bigger than my SE K750i which is equipped with a 2.0MP camera. Of course the Nikon takes clearer pics but its not worth the lug.

Are you seriously THAT ignorant? Every major carrier has free TXT/PIX messaging plans now. I pay no extra a month and I can send as many pictures as I'd like. Obviously they're not all uber quality like I'd get if I carried my A95 everywhere I go, but when I see something neat or something I'd like to share with someone later, I whip my phone out and snap a pic, and email it to myself in under 15 seconds flat.

Oh, and I don't come off as a tool, carrying a $500 camera everywhere I go just because I have to have crystal clear pictures

I dont ever need pictures.. so I dont carry a camera period. And my plan has no such thing as free text messages. You pay extra for the unlimited option anyways.

So you've never come across something you wish you were able to take a quick snap of to share with family, friends, anything? No friends have done some spontaneus stupidity (see my first post in the thread) that you wanted to capture for posterity?

I find that hard to believe.

Yeah...my dad is going back the last week of Oct. but I start a new job in 2 weeks so I won't be able to go.

🙁
