Why does he wear shoes to the toilet? o_O I would never do such a thing. You just don't do that. Take your shoes off! That's super rude even if you're doing it at your own house. Stepping on a bathroom carpet with shoes on OMG NO! You just don't step on a carpet with shoes on. *head explodes*

Cute cat tho.

Must be a cultural thing. There's one carpet you're allowed to step on with shoes on and that's the doormat. Other carpets are an absolute no-go-zone or other rooms than the first room you enter. You step inside and take off your shoes. That's the first thing you do. Even before shaking someone's hand if you're visiting someone. You most certainly don't go to the toilet with shoes on. That's simply wrong.

We Americans have been known to be rude. ;)

I've done both - I usually feel it out and see if one or the other is acceptable. I generally remove my shoes at the door but if it's not the homeowner's own style, I make no effort to go out of my way unless I just prefer to remove them at that time.
