WTF is your problem? I definitely prefer natural closeups, or at least skillfully done artificial closeups. This "a pseudo-macro pic of a penny to test the pseudo-macro capabilities of my digicam" stuff doesn't do much for me, sorry.

I'm sure you couldn't stand to look past the cover of Closeups in Nature without puking, but nevertheless I find John Shaw's work very inspiring. Our own lirion here does some excellent macros, though he seems to specialize more in the "studio" style (his work, though outdoors, typically has the black background seen more often in studio macros).

BTW, if you're going to bit... er... whine, please at least post some of your pics, so you can put our work to shame with your vastly superior intelligence, artistic tastes, and photographic skill.

on a side note, anyone happen to know any forums for buying used stuff other that fred miranda? looking for a d30...
Photo.net has some sort of fs/ft section. I've seen similar in other smaller forums, but then you run into the issue of having no way to verify any info about the person you're trading with (heatware isn't well known around those parts, evidently). There's always ebay - I'm not sure what your feelings about them are, but I would not feel comfortable buying anything expensive there. I have, however, bought some used stuff from Adorama, and have been satisfied; B&H also supposedly has a decent used section. Though their prices tend to be a bit higher, KEH is said to be great; according to people who have bought from them, they tend to rate conditions conservatively.
