why does your fireplace need speakers? :awe:
it fits (just barely)

I wish I had known about your speakers/more people knew. If I had gone the DIY route from the start I'd be a very happy camper. I instead thought I had to pay 1000s to get quality. I'm happy with my Polk Monitor 70s but the Fusion Tempests are nice and the new Fusion 1099s are a must have for me. I'll love em, but neighbors won't.
define most? because every person who I know who has gone the DIY/AIY route has had great success
Model numbers I would think (before and after) more helpful.
Added details to the original post.
In reality, most DIY routes end horribly.
also 2 of the anarchy taped horns, that are waiting for it to be warmer so i can finish them http://www.rootminus1.com/admin/AVS/...223_193515.jpg

tential the 1099 looks like a real winner if you can get past the blue/purple woofers which many hate
actually all of the designs coming out of the SEOS project are pretty amazing, ive built 4 different pairs, and i have 3 of the 15" horns just sitting here waiting for me to do something with them
lastest have been 2 of the coaxials, and these things are pretty nuts for ~150$

Yep, I've got fully horn loaded mains and they're great.Oooh. Interested to hear your feedback on this. Those little guys are intriging, especially for the cost. Have some obvious skepticsm on their output due to the small size of the drivers, but loaded horns do some crazy things to small speakers.
Let us know what you think.
Best way to deal with that tool...That's why I didn't reply. AVSforum and partsexpress have tons of documented builds and the SEOS project has been going very well.

the PCB is pretty self explaniatory, its for the corssover, and there are only like 5 or 6 compnents for it,, you just need a soldering iron, its printed on it where each one goes, and if you still need help you could just send it to me and id do it and send it back.
i have not heard the 10- but the 8 is no joke, after the xover tweek to bring the high end up a bit its will run just about anything from 80Hz on up. We compaired them to the JTR S8 and a the Beyma Coaxial at the last G2G and there is not that much of a difference, and for the price a better deal on a surround or height would be had to find.
we hooked the V8 up to a to a XLX2K i think, might have been larger but they can take a TON of power
Join the Klipsch forums. There's several cats over there who have developed cottage industries for speakers, crossovers, tube amps, etc.@Ironic
On a forum where most people built their own PCs to save cash and get exactly what they want it's insanely surprising that you wouldn't look at other things to see if it's possible to do it yourself as well. The retail markup on many speakers is simply astounding.
I'm honestly surprised more people in the DIY community didn't start their own speaker companies or get hired by one.
Haven't heard of the Crossover Tweek to bring the highend up a bit. The 8 and 10 are listed at the same price so I think I'll just get the 10. The 8 ported and the 10 sealed use the same box. There isn't much of a difference (8 gets a little bit lower due to ports and 10 has 1 DB of sensitivity more than the 8s) but they're just discussing this over at AVSforum and you'd be hard pressed to find the difference.
I hadn't heard that they'd been tested vs the JTR S8. That's close to a $1k price difference in speakers. What other speakers did you guys have there to look at?
Like I said before, it's really amazing what the DIY community has done in terms of bringing high quality performance to price ranges that anyone can afford. I'll have to take that crossover build into consideration but I'd really like to attempt it myself. I just am an electrical newbie but I really want to learn!
@Vi edit
I don't know the theory at all/science behind such a design so I've been interested to see how it works out for people.

Many DIY projects fail. I never said all do.
