I know there are a number of people that have switched from Studio and Monitor series from Paradigm to brands like Ascend and AV123, but I don't think many people have switched from the Signature line. Why the change?

Wow, which Sigs did you have before?

Also, let us know how that MFW-15 works out when you get it. (prob not until apr. as you noted in your AVS thread)

I'm just dying to hear the answer to this. I have Studio 20's as my mains now, and thought the Signature line was a nice improvement.

Especially the new v2 Sigs. The Beryllium tweet fixed most of the issues I had with the earlier sig v1s.

Nice! Seems like you have put quite a bit into your display and subwooferage :) Time to get your mains to match the output of the subwoofers? :)

Thanks, Yea I need to buy new mains but for now I calibrated everything with a sound meter and it sounds pretty clean / balanced. Would you have any suggestions on what mains are good these days? I havent really looked into it.

heeh, thats a loaded question! :)

Depends on your budget and use/needs. The sticky thread at the top of this forum has some nice hints. Lemme know if you need any pointers if the guide doesnt answer your questions :)

Got the answer to this, is was Studio series from Paradigm, not Signature.

Yup definitely time to upgrade the mains. That's how my system progress actually. I started with a Kenwood HTiB(505) about 6 years ago. Over that period I replaced the sub. Then I bought new mains/center. Now The mains may get replaced by a custom design of my own. The only downside to that would be the mains and center would not match at all.

But maybe that would just encourage me to build a matching center channel.

exactly :) If you can make two, a third shouldnt be too much additional work :)

Gotta love a bookshelf that reaches down to 40 Hz... Ironically the same place where the original Kenwood sub that came in that HTiB dropped out ;)

Thats going to be a beast of a bookshelf speaker though :) I'm sure the empty speaker cabinet will weigh more than the kenwood subwoofer :)

have you selected your drivers, orientation, and alignment yet?

Haha it's fairly large. And bascially all constructed. I demoed it a few weeks ago. I then remeasured and now I am adding an additional part to the crossover to fix up the FR a bit and putting it back together.

I believe it does weigh more than the Kenwood sub. The volume is probably about the same.

Nice! Do you have the whole process documented? I'm always fascinated by start-to-finish documentaries (of course pix would be cool) :)

Did you end up going 2-way or 3-way (or other?) design?

I have some of the process documented. I started researching the subject 4 years ago so obviously I don't have EVERYTHING. But the core measurements I do have. I posted a few of them in a thread a while back. I will probably post a summary thread once they are put back together and remeasured.

It's a 2 way design with a Seas 27TDFC/TV and a Hivi M6a woofer. Crossover is custom.

I have been able to reach 102dB before my ears said no more!

Off to a movie now, I will add pics soon...

I am looking to get the Monitor Mini's or Titan's, and was wondering how you like the Mini's? I am looking mainly at them or Focal Chorus 705's and the Paradigm's have a little more "presence" then the Focal's. I made the choice in car audio to not go with Focal's, and I regret that decision. So with home audio I don't want the same thing to happen.

So how do you like the Paradigm's? The thought also crossed my mind to get the 7's instead (I am doing a 2.1 now and later am going to a 5.1 so would either buy 3 new fronts if I went Mini's or Titan's or a center and 2 rears if I went the tower 7's)

Unfortunately, this is the best picture my $1000 Handycam can take. :(
You have TMNT on your walls!! How old are you?:p

I'm 23 years old. :)
It's time for a paint party then. That wall can't go over well with the chicks.

23 year old chicks dig ninja turtles, too.

I can't believe I don't have a picture of my set-up here. I will try to post one tomorrow.
