Yes, it was intended to be a barn door. It was converted to a table and then I managed to snag it as my desk. I can stand on this desk and not worry about it collapsing, how many people can say that?

It's just gnome running metacity (default) and using the default "simple" theme. It just looks really nice
I got the desktop from gnomedesktops.org or something like that (google for gnome wallpaper).
