Though the funny thing is add another million to the cost and you are now back in the range of houses most people would agree are for the wealthy. So it's the low end of the housing market here that's compressed into this high end.

EDIT: ahh some interesting history here. Mainly a military base since 30s it's been used for nuclear weapons testing and of course was a base of operations during WWII. Looks like it was then used for chemical weapons storage. There's also a dump on the island containing "Agent Orange containers returned from Southeast Asia after the Vietnam War, PCBs, PAHs, dioxins, and sarin nerve gas". Umm yeah... as beautiful as the surrounding waters look, every coral atoll looks like this though, DO NOT WANT after reading that description.

Some very weird structures in the middle of nowhere in western China:

I've seen these discussed elsewhere and I think most people are guessing they are target ranges for bombs and missiles. The structures in the middle link look like fake airstrips and if you zoom in on certain areas, there appear to be ruined buildings. The others, I dunno. Some kind of calibration pattern for guided missiles? A simulation of city streets?
