HAHAHA. so after quitting my job on friday, i was informed today that the company network was going haywire. everything was a mess and that the company has a tax deadline on the 15th. the stars are aligned and coincidently, the systems analyst/network admin is out on jury duty. HAHA. the it manager and the newest it intern/peons are clueless and know nothing about anything!!!! Today was purely relaxing (at home sleeping), fun (played CS:S all day), and exciting (learning about the company's misfortunes). AHHH it is great.

btw, I quit because I was an intern doing 90% of the departments duties. I was never trained by anybody in that company. All the knowledge that I had come by, was by good ol' google or a nice book. After the owner had talked to me and said that I was not doing my work and was always talking to people, he warned me that he would fire me. In turn, I quietly quit, so that he would know how much of a valuable resource I was to the company. Anyway. :) Happy days. Good times.

I was in the same position about a year ago. Except I wasn't able to quit, I was fired because the company outsourced the IT department. Then to make matters worse, once I finally got a job again, I found out they had fired me too fast and needed a replacement, so they went to a temp agency and got a new person. I was there for 1 1/2 years, in the last year, they have gone through 3 people trying to find someone that did the work I did :)

You should call him and ask if you are needed and that you'd come back for 2x pay.

Nah, I won't go back. I hate the owner with a passion. I dropped off a Windows 2000 server book I had borrowed from the company today. It was a funny sight. The marketing interns there said that about four people were crowding around one interns workstation, trying to get Outlook XP to import/create a new profile. After an hour of trying, they couldn't get it to work and left the machine be. When I got there, I ate lunch with the people I loved to be around with, then went back to say bye once more. The intern that had the Outlook troubles came up to me and begged me to fix his machine. I said "Ok, last favor" and within 1 1/2 minutes, I got a new profile up and running for him. It was just funny how he was repeatedly stating outloud that "the IT department tried to do something for an hour and nothing happened," but it only took 1 1/2 minutes and the problem was resolved. That my friends, was funny as hell. :D

I'm actually applying to a school district as a school computer tech. Doesn't sound to extravagant, but I will have the chance to be promoted to network administrator there if I work there long and hard enough. The pay isn't bad too. :) Wish me luck guys. Hopefully this new year will kick a lot of ass. Best of luck to you all as well.

Same kind of thing happened for a friend of mine... He worked in the IT department of a smaller financial management company, they were bought out and were letting go all teh IT department and contracting out what needed to be done until they replaced their systems with newer ones to be run out of town. So, they all get told they have 1 month left, but they all get 4 month buy-out packages. My friend gets a call from the company who has the IT contract, and takes a job with them, to do what he is doing now. So, he gets 4 months of free pay, and gets paid more money to do exactally the same job!! bastard!
