Post-Interview Question...!

Went for an interview today, went pretty good, but at the end she gave me some "homework" as she called it...!

All she wants me to do is answer 2 questions:
1) Why the company and why that position
2) Why me

Now I know that these are typically questions that are asked during the interview, but I'm kind of glad that they were done this way as I can put some real effort into them.

My question: How formal do I make this document out to be? I'm going to be attaching it to my followup email to her (Which I was going to send anyways), but I'm just not sure how formal this should be in regards to a to/from with addresses and dated, etc, or more of if i should just write the questions, with my answers beneath.

Thoughts?

I would write in letter format, somewhat conversational.

"I spent some time considering the questions you asked me about why I am interested in the company and position, and why the company should be interested in me. I feel that this company is a great match for my skills/background/interest because..."

I was asked that once, at a job I didn't care much for a long time ago, and no jokes, these were my answers:

1) Because the company I interviewed at was closer to my house than the other company I'm considering.
2) They won't regret it.

I got the job.

Ah if only I just really didn't care 😀

Edit: And thanks HC, that sounds like a pretty good idea

There are time when it is beneficial to provide the appearance that you do not care.

But this is one of those times where you don't know for sure if that's the case, so err on the side of caution and provide appropriately compelling answers.

(And BTW, what's up? Been a while. 🙂)
