In Tupelo Mississippi, an airport employee must have had a mental breakdown. The employee stole a a 1987 Beachcraft C90A from Tupelo Regional Airplrt, and threatened to crash it into a Walmart just after takeoff. The aircraft flew for 5 or more hours over northeastern Mississippi, before coming down. The airport employee has been arrested.

I saw that story this morning .... the idea that "everything is fine" out there IRL right now for most working folks in the US is 99% smoke & mirrors and I expect we'll be seeing more "acts of desperation/mental illness" like this in the near-future.

I worked with a young man back in the mid 80’s who took his own life in a similar manner. Rented a C-152 just like he’d done for months and simply flew into the Gulf of Mexico until he ran out of fuel. 😡

I watched this story on Fox News this morning until long after the plane was landed and they didn't make any remarks to the effect that the airport employee was African American, or Muslim, or both.

It seems you did not read my post, or just skimmed thru it and missed the word "cheerleaders". Fox News chearleaders are basically the racist commentators in the Fox News website comment section.
 
It does not mean shit in the grand scheme of things. One guy doing some high profile "look at me" and people are attributing some special meaning to it, while thousands suffer in quiet desperation or take their own lives in mundane ways.
 
Working 12 hour shifts 7 days a week for months at a time can have that effect on a person

hope he gets the help he now needs.
