I dont have time to read that 130 post thread of bibble babble about synthetic benches...

Impressive scores at stock, but has this thing been able to OC...I couldn't get XS page earlier to load so I am lost at what they have managed to do over the last 5-6 days....

The only way I am buying this is if I can OC.....It is going to be my dragster box otherwise it wont do much against my quad machine in my REAL WORLD apps...I have an Nforce mobo coming that I can OC (ram, vcore, etc.) and hoping to get 2.4ghz at least or basically quad 280's.....

Oh and I have to believe that multimedia score in Sandra is BS!!!...MOst sandra scores are....

Let m eknow what board they are using and what bios...

ummm, i would sure hope it cant beat 4 processors...

as for those benchmarks being BS, you can say what you want about them, but thats what people use nowadays to compare processors. Obviously few people put much stock in Sandra scores since they only show potential, but not reality. However the benchmarks like Cinebench and ScienceMark, PCMark, and 3DMark show up everywhere, and are actual programs designed to simulate normal conditions, not just theoretical tests.

Duvie, why not just be patient and wait until it hits retail and in the hands of "real world" people? The previews were all controlled environments and the people at XS live/die by SuperPi and use some extreme measures for their systems, not something that would necessarily translate into an overclocked and reliable system that I would use day-in-day-out.

Besides, even if you KNOW now, would it do you much good?

Man, dont you get excited when a new piece of hardware gets benched? Yes, I know that right now you're completely impressed by AMD and are reluctant to switched to Intel again on a few half-assed tests on unreleased hardware (that is still 3-6 months away) but if you wait a few days we'll see the Conroe performance picture become clearer. Instead of getting into flame wars about stuff you cant test yourself, just sit back, chill, and enjoy the show.

(By the way, a comment on the sciencemark bench: it seems that AMD's FPU is still better than Intel's, as the 2.4GHz Conroe barely beats two single-core 2.0GHz K8s)

I get excited when the doorbell rings and I'm expecting a delivery.

I get excited when seeing hardware with "potential" at really low prices (such as socket 754 Semprons and Opteron 144).

I get excited... (nevermind on that one  )

Don't say that! Kimberly-Clark stock, the parent corp of Kleenex isn't doing so well lately, investors could use a lot more excitement like that! :p

AFAIK it hasn't been overclocked yet, but it should overclock further than Yonah, being a full desktop version with a 3.33 Ghz chip expected.

I'd say mid 3 Ghz range on air.

As far as I know, Victor said that the bios would not support Overclocking at the moment. There wasn't an option for FSB or Multipliers in the bios. We will have to wait for official motherboards and official release of the Chip before we can have any over clocking results.

Sepeculations are that it will OC quite well. Again, speculations ARE speculations.

The board he used is equiped with the G965 chipset, and I think it's an intel board and thus that would explain why you can't OC it. Until other manufacturers come out with the supported boards, we'll have to wait on the OC part.

Just wondering...what kind of results would you like to see? you say REAL WORLD, but just for my knowledge and others on here, what do you classify REAL WORLD?
If the SuperPi, 3dmark05, Cinebench and sisoft are systhetic and NOT REAL WORLD, what would you like to see?
