Yeah I am getting one. Sat on the sidelines long enough. Time to get into the game. The display sold it for me. Android while I think may be good is behind in the game and I have to go with the leader on this one, though it will cost a hefty amount.

I don't think so. Probably going to spend the money on a new powerful laptop. Tablets have lost lot of its luster with me. I'm going back to old school PC. Time away made me realize how much I missed traditional computing experience and its advantages. Touchpad and my phone will more than satisfy my tablet/touch need.
 
Can't afford, but specs are pretty damn sweet. I wonder what the real world results for the 200m range I'm seeing in the Bluetooth 4.0 specs. If I could use a bluetooth headset at even 100m I'd love it. I have a hard time with 15 feet with my current 2.1 headset. I couldn't imagine 200m wow. VGA only front facing camera still kind of sucks, 720p video chatting would be nice. Damn if I come into some money I'll probably end up getting 1 of these, crazy display and it's still 4:3 which I really like for a tablet.
 
Holy crap. have been looking at pics of the new display, it's really sweet, and I liked the old display, it made my notebooks look bad.
 
I havent been able to find a use to justify the price. Its a sweet piece of kit to be sure but it would essentially be a toy for me and at that price point my toys need triggers, not displays. Might be in for a iPad 2 though.
 
I feel an unreasoning need for it, but I'm going to resist. I just got my iPad 2 in June, and ive got a touchpad too. I promised myself that I wouldnt make any major purchases (say $300+) for a while after buying a new TV last month.

I'm still going to be watching eBay to see what slightly used iPad 2s are going for over the next few months. I suppose if I could get a good price on mine I might be more likely to go for the new model, but for now I'm saying no.
 
I've been doing a lot of traveling lately, so getting a tablet couldn't have come at a more perfect time.

Just finished getting flamed in a local Reddit chat though. 😛 Seems there's people that believe Tegra 3, being quad core, outperforms the dual core iPad 2. 🙁 My efforts to enlighten with links to hard data and a serious discussion were for naught.

I think getting an ipad 3 makes sense if you've been waiting to get a tablet, it also makes sense if you've got the original ipad & love it. People who are employed in professions that require having on the go access to high res images like real estate agents, designers, photographers.. the purchase makes sense.

For people who already have ipad 2 or higher end android devices, I'm not so sure the upgrade is worthwhile. I love new toys but my 10.1 Galaxy Tab runs smoothly, the screen is lovely & it is slim & elegant. ipad3 screen looks awesome but it's not enough of an upgrade to justify dropping $499 plus tax, plus the $ for a case.

Yes, very good way to cash in on the hype and momentum that built up to this point. Samsung sits on things for too long and by the time it gets to NA other products may have been announced by other manufacturers, thus consumers will start to question themselves and look at their options. Not a good thing for Samsung.

This is what Samsung is most likely doing for their next tablet. Its funny, Asus announced the Infinity a while ago and is it available yet? iPad3 will be out in a week!
 
Just got my confirmation email, looks like I'll get a couple from the first batch.

Wonder how long it'll take for the shipping times to start stretching out....
 
I have a feeling Apple is going to announce that this is the biggest pre-order success they have ever had. Ofcourse multiple countries help, but still, wait for that announcement.
 
Pre-ordered.. 16GB black..

Going to give it to my mother.. after I make sure that everything is working, of course. 🙂

And that pisses me off no end. 🙁 Allegedly, Samsung is shooting to launch the SGS3 in 50 countries at the same time as well.

I think each product they launch or refresh ends up being the biggest pre-order. 😛

I am definitely tempted to get one, but I have a lot invested in the Android platform for apps. 😛 And I like the widescreen form better.

Note the results of the poll now say more people will be buying one vs the old, pre-launch poll. 😛
