Well folks once again I'm in the mood to see what other folks have in their home theate/entertainment systems since a lot of people seem to be getting into projection systems nowadays. Mine hasn't changed much from the last post but I'm not home now so I can't post pics yet. Here's what is in the setup though, pics will come later:

TV: Samsung TXN2726
A/V Receiver: Harman Kardon AVR-230
CD deck: Sharp MD-R3 3 CD changer/Minidisc player/recorder
DVD: Samsung 5 disc progressive scan
Satellite: Dish Network DVR-510
Video game consoles: XBox, PSTwo, Gamecube
Speakers: Sony SS-BM1000s (front), Cerwin Vega VS-5c (center), KLHs rear surrounds & rear center
Subwoofer: Paradigm PDR-10

The projector is a JVC DILA G-11U (1365 x 1024 native resolution) used with a Focus Quadscan scaler. The preamp is a Proceed PAV, which drives a few Aragon 4004MkII amps, which power the Genesis 8300 front and surround speakers. The subwoofers are IRS Beta columns, with eight 12" servo-controlled drivers. The source I use the most often is a Pioneer combination DVD and Laserdisk player.

I'll probably replace the preamp fairly soon and add in an HTPC, but that's a ways down on the "to do" list. As theaters go, the equipment is fairly old, but it all works quite well.

Since I just moved, I don't have it all set up yet for pics, but here is my equipment.

Display - Infocus SP4805 on 106" 16:9 screen
Receiver - Denon AVR3801
Speakers - Athena S2 *6 (front and surrounds), Athena C1 (center)
Subwoofer - Athena P3
DVD/CD - Sony DVP-CX777ES 400 Disc changer
Cable - Will be Motorola 6412, Dual HDTV tuner + DVR, when I get the Infocus ceiling mounted.

How do you like your 4805? I just got mine a few weeks ago and am more impressed with it all the time - I couldn't imagine a better piece of hardware for the price. 1080i HD TV through a DVI cable gives an unbelievable picture... Not to mention DVDs : )

I'd assume the technology doesn't appeal to the "masses" as pjs are a bit more difficult to set up but if you take the time to do it right, you'll never go wrong. Can't wait to see the next movie/TV show... : )
 
I had pictures of my home theatre setup a while back.... but here are the specs:

Samsung 61" DLP
Samsung HD-931 DVD player
Pioneer receiver, old one, but has DTS/DD
QSC 2400W two channel amplifier
QSC 3600W two channel amplifier
Cheap Laserdisc player
Cheap 5-disc dvd player for karaoke,
A VCR
Modded PS2
Infinity tower speakers for my center channel
QSC AD-S52 speakers for front and rear surrounds mounted on the walls


And soon, I'm adding another 2400W amplifier, and an 8-channel signal processing box (with switchable phantom power), which I'll probably be using 6 channels for dd/dts audio, and the other two as microphone inputs.

Not the top of the line home theater equipment, but a lot of firepower. 🙂
 
Mine sucks, but I am slowly improving things.

TV: Toshiba 27A50
A/V Reciever: Technics SA-EX510
DVD: Sony SLV-D100
Speakers: 2 Infinity (not sure what model) circa 1989. Very heavy but nice though.

I have a question for those of you with projectors...how are you running the cables to your projector? Are they really long cables or do you place your sources close to the projector itself?

I love it. I will have to work a little harder to set it up at my new place, since there is more of a light issue than I had previously. What are you using for a screen? I had a homemade paint mixture on a bare wall previously, but I think I might go with something different this time. I've been reading avsforum religously, and want to try what they call "Light Fusion".

When I was in the market, I couldn't justify spending over twice as much for a RPTV with a smaller screen, and having this big ass box in my living room. As you said, there's no better price/performance that I have found. I'm content right now, until I can get a 1280*720 DLP for under $2,000. Then I'll think about upgrading. But until then, I'll kick back and watch DVD's in spectacular fashion, after I get it mounted, that is. 😉

My setup will consist of 3 cables going to the projector, from an A/V rack in the back corner of the room. I'll have the power cable for the projector, a DVI cable for HDTV, and component cables for DVD/Xbox, switched by my receiver. My plan is to run the cables up a corner, then conceal them with a 1"x4" MDF board, painted the wall color, with the sides mitered at 45 degrees to fit flush at an angle against both walls. On the ceiling, I dont know yet, I might have to live with cables visible somewhat, I'll do my best to conceal them.

The BenQ 6200 has a native resolution of 1024x768 and it's under $2,000 but, it doesn't have the Farouja chip like the 4805. How important is the DCDi chip anyways? Is the picture that much better with the chip than not?

Yes, the Faroudja chip is that good, plus the 6200 is not 16:9, it's 4:3. In 16:9 it only runs 1024*576.
