Tried web site and phone and got same response....not an authorized reseller....
Called Infinity Cameras and they said they buy from distributors and not direct from Nikon. You get warranty from them and not from the manufacturer. Probably no tax...save $31.79, Ground $19.40
Not sure but sounds like the grey market

One freeing aspect of taking digital pictures with the Coolpix is you can hold the camera at waste level and take pictures of people when they don't know you're taking their picture.

Voyeurism is wrong! ^_^

LOL. I just realized I wrote waste level. I misspelled waist. A recent example of the benefit of taking pictures of people who are camera shy was some nice shots I got of Amish people in Ohio who cover up when they see you take their picture. I think the swivelling view screen on the G2 should work in this regard but not nearly as elegantly as the Coolpix. The Coolpix 4500 also has an anti-reflective coating on the viewscreen now which is a definite plus in sunlight.

yeah, way to go LeatherNeck, you just captured their soul and now they won't go to heaven. i don't leave messages on answering machines either because they do that same thing.

Leatherneck better watch out, next time they see him with his fancy Nikon, they gonna rake him to death 🙂

Has anyone used this vendor>> http://www.royalcamera.com/nikcool45dig.html

They are charging $348 + $60 for shipping for a total of $408. They are one of those New York outfits, but this is a great price for this camera. And if you could get Staples to pricematch in any way to this company, you would have the deal of the century.

I am sorely tempted to jump on this deal, but have never used Royal Camera before.

Why yes. A lot of people have used them. See here:

BizRate for Royal Camera

If you would like to deal with obnoxious people with obnoxious Brooklyn accents who obnoxiously try to get you to buy 32MB flash cards for $150 then they are the place to shop. Most likely their price is the camera only and I do mean the camera only. They'll sell you the battery and all the stuff that normally comes in the box separately. Royal Camera is a great place to PM to but not to actually buy from.

royal cameras is selling international models, if it arrives broke, they will replace it (no shipping damage). One month later there is no warranty (grey market).....self insured if you buy

With respect to the Amish picture-taking, I was wondering why each image was 100MB in size even though they normally only take up about 350KB. I heard screaming coming from my camera as I sent the images to the trash can. I thought that was peculiar at the time since the Nikon doesn't have a speaker.

Seriously, the Amish don't believe it will take their soul. They're not a bunch of savages. They just believe it is a vain thing and shun vanity. My point was that you can get pictures of people even if they're camera-shy whether they're Amish or just a relative that complains that they're too ugly to get their picture taken.

No good here,

The CSR I talked to(very polite and pleasant) informed me that "someone else" had already called about PM w/infinity camera and that since they were not an "Nikon authorized" dealer, no go. Thanks to the AT effect, I'll have to pay more for the camera of my dreams....boo hoo hoo, poor me.
