Yes we do. They are hypocrits. They require the PM site be a authorized Nikon seller, but they themselves are not an authorized Nikon seller. Funny. :)

So Cal Fry's ad has the nikon coopix 2500 for 247 i think. Best buy also has it for 240+ today when I swung by for some CDR's. I'm gonna give staples a call for a pm and then use a 40 off coupon.

Damn, this thing is cheaper then my old camera that I just sold.

I'll have tons of free time in the lab tomorrow, so I guess I'll try calling the Highway Robbers Inc (aka Staples) until I get a dumb CSR who will do a PM :) But then again, what am I going to do with my $330 Olympus C720?

I purchased this camera locally for $625.00. It takes unbelievable pictures and is worth every penny.

Great camera...

If it's anything as good as it's predecessor the 995, then this is going to be one great camera.

Ah, if I only had the cash to buy this camera. Everything I've been hearing about it is so good (I especially want it over the 995 for its audio recording), and the only negative aspect is a supposedly slow shutter response. I don't think if this is true since this was a complaint with a prototype model.

I thought the 4500 was still a bit much for my budget so I tried to pricematch the coolpix 885 @ 374.99 instead.
Staples has it available for order by phone (Item # IM1191552 for $518.95). I used the live customer support applet and was told that they would pricematch to infinitycamera but that it would take up to 24hrs for confirmation from HQ.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I agree, I have the 4500 and it simply is UNBELIEVABLE. Probably the last camera I'll have to buy for many years.

Tried to do it online, they pulled the standard "not an authorized dealer BS." Gonna try it over the phone.

So, has anybody been able to convince the staples monkeys to do a pricematch? It's too bad they don't sell those at their B&M stores...

Awesome camaera, but why are they still only using a USB1.1 interface?

Also, I thought Staples wouldn't use a coupon anymore if you PM. Or is this just YMMV depending upon the CSR you get?

Good deal. One thing I like about these deal sites is my ability to upgrade my camera for "free".

At the end of last year I bought my Nikon Coolpix 995 for $400 after a PM and a rebate. I sold my Olympus C2020Z back then for $385. I just sold my Coolpix 995 online for $495 last week.

I'm attracted to the Coolpix 4500 because I was a real fan of the split body design of the 995 and it did take nice pictures. Unfortunately, my wife never did like the camera because it was too complicated for her for indoor shots. The compact design of the camera is, in one sense, one of its drawbacks. I don't like to use the flash too much because it washes out all the colors. Regrettably, the Coolpix line has a very slow lens so if you want to take pictures indoors you need to have a lot of light if you're shooting from far away or you need to use the flash. Typically what I did with mine is I would use Shutter Priority mode and set the shutter speed to 1/30 of a second which I knew I could generally hold the camera steady for. I could never zoom in or the picture would be too dark. The camera always took great pictures and I still love the model but I did feel a bit limited by the lens speed.

Ironically, I'm just now transitioning to a new model and I gave serious consideration to the Coolpix 4500 because the split body design rocks. One freeing aspect of taking digital pictures with the Coolpix is you can hold the camera at waste level and take pictures of people when they don't know you're taking their picture. It makes them act more naturally and also lets you take pictures of folks who would cover up if they knew you were taking their picture. I've decided that since they haven't really improved the lens speed issue to go with the Canon G2 which I think I'll be able to get for under $500 using AMEX's BVG. That said, I think the Coolpix line is awesome and if I had the money to own another digicam it would be the 4500.

Where do I find the coupons for $40.00. I am sorry if I missed something really obvious on the site.

Thanks.
