Good deal. One thing I like about these deal sites is my ability to upgrade my camera for "free".
At the end of last year I bought my Nikon Coolpix 995 for $400 after a PM and a rebate. I sold my Olympus C2020Z back then for $385. I just sold my Coolpix 995 online for $495 last week.
I'm attracted to the Coolpix 4500 because I was a real fan of the split body design of the 995 and it did take nice pictures. Unfortunately, my wife never did like the camera because it was too complicated for her for indoor shots. The compact design of the camera is, in one sense, one of its drawbacks. I don't like to use the flash too much because it washes out all the colors. Regrettably, the Coolpix line has a very slow lens so if you want to take pictures indoors you need to have a lot of light if you're shooting from far away or you need to use the flash. Typically what I did with mine is I would use Shutter Priority mode and set the shutter speed to 1/30 of a second which I knew I could generally hold the camera steady for. I could never zoom in or the picture would be too dark. The camera always took great pictures and I still love the model but I did feel a bit limited by the lens speed.
Ironically, I'm just now transitioning to a new model and I gave serious consideration to the Coolpix 4500 because the split body design rocks. One freeing aspect of taking digital pictures with the Coolpix is you can hold the camera at waste level and take pictures of people when they don't know you're taking their picture. It makes them act more naturally and also lets you take pictures of folks who would cover up if they knew you were taking their picture. I've decided that since they haven't really improved the lens speed issue to go with the Canon G2 which I think I'll be able to get for under $500 using AMEX's BVG. That said, I think the Coolpix line is awesome and if I had the money to own another digicam it would be the 4500.
