How would I go about getting a credit card if I am 15 going on 16? My parents say its fine and stuff. Also, I want something that I only have the make payments if I use it. Thanks!

I would just wait until you're 18 and have money saved up that way you don't have to have anyone co-sign and you have money to spend so that you can actually build credit.

Visa Buxx

would be my choice. had one when i was younger. you can usually get a debit card if you have a joint account w/ your parents. most credit card companies require you are 18 because of the risks of the credit card (they are basically loaning you money and you probably don't have a job). other choices are get your parent to add you on to one of their credit cards they aren't using so you have a card of your own and you could be responsible and pay it. however i only believe the last option allows you to build credit. i think.

btw why do you need a credit card at 16? online purchases?

Preloaded secured card is your best bet at 16.

If you lose it your only out what you put in. If you decide to have a huge party you only have so much you can buy with it so you won't freak the folks out.

Just become an authorized users on one of their cards (or get them to get a new card and put you as an AU).

I think you can still build up your credit even if you have someone else cosign.

Fair Isaac is soon going not going to count AUs in their formula.

Do you have a job? If you have a job, great. If you don't have a job, why do you need a credit card?

At 16 the last thing on my mind was burdening myself with a job and credit card.
