Crap classes start tommorrow, oh well I'm going to make a wal-mart one anyway, Probably a waste of my time but, well worth it if it is not!!!

You guys are aware that the reciept is from a super center walmart right? I don't think any regular walmarts have these (from what I've seen) and BTW, I asked the store manager where the closest super center is in So cal, and he said Las vegas ie. not super centers in California. Oh yeah, two people called while I was there at my local walmart asking about DVD writers!

...I know by sheer probability that at least someone here has to work at walmart, can you type in the sku when you go to work to find the price out?

The reciept is probably modified. The purchase date on the reciept is 1/11/02 .. The next line after that says "The Princess Diaries, December 18!" December 18 has passed...hmmmm LOL

"Don't be too sure this is not legit or real. I have three people going to a Walmart right now which claims they have PLENTY in stock for $78. I will report back when I can. "

Which store?

If it helps I have confirmed the following stores do not have the item in stock, much to my irritation I might add 🙂

1. Wal-Mart Store
13425 Community Road
Poway, CA 92064

2. Wal-Mart Store
170 Town Center Parkway
Santee, CA 92071

3. Wal-Mart Store
3382 Murphy Canyon Road
San Diego, CA 92123

4. Wal-Mart Store
13487 Camino Canada
EL Cajon, CA 92021

5. Wal-Mart Store
3412 College Ave.
San Diego, CA 92115

6. Wal-Mart Store
1800 University Drive
Vista, CA 92083

7. Wal-Mart Store
75 N Braodway
Chula Vista, CA 91910

8. Wal-Mart Store
2100 Vista Way
Oceanside, CA 92054

9. Wal-Mart Store
705 College Blvd
Oceanside, CA 92057

10. Wal-Mart Store
710 Dennery Road
San Diego, CA 92154

Oh yeah, 78 bucks is the price they are charging for the Phillips CD-RW drives not DVD-RW drives, I suspect that store has plenty of those and none of the dvd drives.

The ones for $78 are just plain cd burners. One of the 24 hour Walmarts here in Dayton told us they had one in stock (assumed they meant DVD burner since thats what we asked about on the phone) so we got there as fast as we could only to be dissapointed. Just a warning to anybody who might get their hopes up after hearing this.

<< Lighten up, I promise you that Wal-Mart can't put 2 and 2 together. There's no way they can even tell what each store has in stodk or even the price. Besides, they don't even know what a dvd-rw is. >>

Uh, Wal-mart has one of the largest datawarehouses in existence. They have more data about what they have in stock and how well things sell and other data they collect from the cash register that the amount of text that is indexed by search engines like google. That's a lot of customer data and product stock info. They know what is going on and the pricing could be on purpose to clear stock or may be a mistake but volume is too low on these things to show up on the radar of there mining agents.

hey ppl...I'm about 2 blocks from a Super WallyWerld 🙂

I'm printin' about everything on here and heading out to talk to the old lady in the stockings @ the electroniks dept. now...she watches me alot...esp. when I stand there playing XboX while my wife tugs @ my shirt trying to get me off of it 🙂

ok, here's an update...

i just called the walmart in greensburg, IN that the receipt was originally scanned from (812-663-3434)

talked with the night manager there and asked him to confirm the UPC# for the DVD burner (003784991837)

after waiting for a bit, he came back and told me that: 1) YES, they do have it in the computers and 2) YES it is for the price that the scanned receipt shows ($84.96)

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

he said that this was a NON-RESTOCKABLE ITEM, which meant that it was a one-time deal from the walmart warehouses...he said that after the original shipment of dvd burners are sold, they will not be restocking them again...then he went on to talk about how walmart tests different items from different manufactors and yadda yadda yadda...basically, if ur LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET UR HANDS ON ONE then BUY IT....cause after there all sold, t-ttt-tt-that's all folks!

oh and by the way, i also got another friend of mine in san antonio, tx to go to a superwalmart and he said they didn't have any as well....

sigh... 🙁

EDIT: sorry, but no it wasn't in stock....all sold out there in greensburg!

The reciept is probably modified. The purchase date on the reciept is 1/11/02 .. The next line after that says "The Princess Diaries, December 18!" December 18 has passed...hmmmm LOL

I thought that too and took it into photoshop to blow it up. It looks ok. btw I just bought a dvd and it also has the princess diaries line at the bottom.

That, my friend, is quite a point. You know your retailing systems. 🙂

FWIW, I recently bought a few items at my local Wal-Mart, and my receipts (from a couple of days ago) show the same thing. So I don't think that totally invalidates the reciept, although I am a bit suspicious of this deal, perhaps being a one-off pricing error.

Called around... sorry guys, wasnt going to run around at 2:00 in the morning.... none of them even carry it.... but one guy was nice enough to check and see if they were getting more... but he couldnt even sign in the system.... guess too many people are calling around and messed up their system?

I say more power to those who actually got it at 84 bucks!
