Possibly a bad MoBo?

Folks, I've got a PC Chips M812L (Baby AT socket A SiS 730 chipset), running a Maxtor 7200rpm 80GB HDD with a Duron 1.2Ghz and 256MB of PC133 Micron SDRAM. It intermittently blanks out the screen and locks up the system requiring a reboot. If I go into the BIOS upon reboot it shows the HDD as a 52MB type 12 HDD and the date and time are all hosed up, no other settings, such as in the Advanced section, change . I've changed the CMOS battery and no dice. My next move was to swap out power supplies, which it is currently running a Q-Max AMD approved 350W ATX unit. Is it just me or is it starting to sound like a bad MoBo? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:)

Rick

Update: Just tried another P/S and no dice. I was running the Burn-In wizard through SiSoft Sandra when it locked. Once agin, going into the BIOS shows a type 12 52MB HDD.

Okay, just swapped the single 256MB stick of PC133 for two 128MB sticks of Infineon and am running SiSoft Sandra's Burn-In with no problems so far. amdskip, I've run Maxtor's diagnostics on the hard drive and that comes up with a clean bill of health. Hopefully it turns out to be the RAM. ;)

Is it me or do I see a $hitload of Ram based problems on this forum ?

It's either Ram or Hard drives getting hosed , now hard drives I can understand but Ram is usually pretty good at keep for many years but the latest stuff doesn't seem to hold out for very long.

Paul, it definitely is the RAM in this case, tried it in two other systems with the same results. And I agree with you, there does seem to be too many cases of RAM-based problems.:|
